Freezer Temp Alarm

Temp alarm come on, yet temp (fan blowing and cold air) working. Turn the temp control just a notch up and immediately the temp lite goes out. Later it will start up again. It seems the freezer is working fine, just the temp moritoring system is malfuncting. Looking at the Data Sheet wiring it shows an "Electronic Module" in the system. Not sure if that's the problem or the temp sensor.

Any Help

Why is the temperature alarm light on, on my freezer Model# FFU21M8CW?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that the temperature alarm light is on for your Frigidaire freezer, model# FFU21M8CW. This feature is designed to provide a warning of a possible malfunction. If the temperature of the food rises to a level unsafe for long-term storage, the buzzer will sound. The red light, if equipped, will also glow. The Temp Alarm feature operates on household electricity. If power fails, the alarm will not function. An ON/OFF switch allows you to deactivate the Temp Alarm when not wanted. Your freezer is shipped with the Temp Alarm in the OFF position. After your freezer has run approximately 4 hours, the red light, if equipped, will go off. Then you may activate the Temp Alarm without the alarm sounding. Press the ON switch to activate the Temp Alarm. To deactivate, press the OFF switch. If the alarm sounds, be sure freezer is properly leveled, and the door closes freely, and seals properly. If you suspect a technical malfunction, call an authorized servicer immediately. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Kenmore freezer buzzer

I would need to model number to check if you have a on/off for you over temp alarm. That "Buzzer" is a over temp alarm. If you fridge uses a 9volt battery then you might need to replace the battery. Please post your model number.

13 months old Kenmore compressor very hot.

lacdoi,
huuum At your service!

You said,
The warranty just ran out, Sears came out told me needs a control board ($210 for just labor to replace) not sure about part price. I though a new freezer is about twice his labor and parts, so I sent him away minus $65.
I did some troubleshooting today, pull the plug for 2 days. Plug it in, temp alarm goes on all the time. Turn alarm off, left the freezer running for 4hrs.
Not cold at all, some cool air. Fan is on, compressor is on (can hear humming noise and is vibrating). Compressor is very hot to the touch, could burn finger.
Should I call Sears again, wonder how much to fix all the problem? Or just give up, look for another brand new one (not Kenmore).

MY ADVICE:
Sounds like a big repair bill and multiple problems

How old is the appliance?

If the appliance is 10 years old or more you may not be advisable to put good money into bad!
New appliance are so much more efficient today that they can save you a lot of money in energy!!!!
Replace it.

You will be fine

Bless You huuum

Its keeps peeping

Hello twins49
Welcome to Fixya,

You said, your Frigidaire freezer 17 cu. ft. , it keeps buzzing or peeping
The alarm may be malfunctioning or it may be warning you of low temperature.
You can go to any hard ware store and buy a refrigerator thermometer and ask them if it can go into a freezer too!It can, But ask anyway!

If it is cold enough then it is a faulty alarm going off.

Your freezer may be equipped with an alarm.
Here is some information that may help you find it and turn it off if you wish

Temp Alarm (audible only or audible with warning light)

This feature is designed to provide a warning of possible malfunction. If the
temperature of the food rises to a level unsafe for long-term storage, the buzzer will
sound. The red light will also glow on models so equipped. The Temp Alarm feature
operates on household electricity. If power fails, the alarm will not perform. An ON/
OFF switch allows you to deactivate the Temp Alarm when not wanted. The freezer
is shipped with Temp Alarm in the OFF position. After freezer has run approximately
4 hours, the red light, if equipped, will go off. Then you may activate the Temp Alarm
without the alarm sounding.
Press the ON switch to activate the Temp Alarm. To deactivate, press the OFF switch.
If the alarm sounds, be sure freezer is properly leveled, and the door closes freely, and
seals properly. If you suspect a technical malfunction, call an authorized servicer
immediately.

Let me no what you find.
