Password I have had my dell poweredge 1600sc with windows sever 2000 in storage for 2 years. After a year I powered it up, logged on and even changed my password for windows. Everything was fine for about 30 seconds. Then a message came up and said unable to accept new password and it locked me out. I have not been able to log on to the windows operating system for sever 2000. It is out of warrenty. Is their anyway to log in without my spending a lot of money

Bios too old and the 32 Bit system is inadequate to manage the function desired.

You will not be able to increase the hdd size of a raid array, it's size is set. If you need more storage, you can add additional drives ( either in raid or standalone ) and use the new drive(s) for storage, but the original array will remain unchanged. The other option is to back up all of your data, install new drives and create a new array.

If it's still working, there's no "requirement" to replace it, but Dell will probably not support it after a certain age.

Servers in general will fail on either power supplies or hard disks. Both of those are well past the average lifespan (what's called the "mean time between failure", or mtbf for the parts)

If you don't have an IT person or department, the simplest approach is to ask yourself this question:
"What is the cost to my business if this computer dies tomorrow?"

Then figure out how much it would be to replace the computer (purchase + install and configure)
If the replacement cost is less than the business-impact cost, then you should replace this 7-year-old box.

It states 1-3-2 = No memory installed
Remove and reset the memory modules (see "Memory Modules"). If the problem persists, replace the system board (see "System Board"). Good Luck

hv u tried booting from other CDs .
if u can boot from other CDs , then this 2003 CD is botched , change it.

F12 is the Dell boot menu key.

Yes, some systems (newer PowerEdge Servers, generally 6/7th Generation and above) have onboard VRMs.

1600sc is a 6th gen PowerEdge (with Simple Computing). I can checked and be absolute certain from within Dell. I'm on VAC until Saturday.

In the meantime, check the PRC model and revision and ensure that they match. Given that a single PRC POST/Boots, try upgrading (if not already) the system BIOS to latest revision.

If the PRC model/revision does match and you have the latest BIOS version, also if the VRMs are not needed, then from the Troubleshooting you have already done, we may conclude that the PRC 2 slot is faulty.

I will confirm the VRM query on Saturday.

Disconnect from the network and all other accessories, and power up the system, this might be due to a faulty device attached to the system, eg: when you connect a usb faulty device the boot takes very long time, sometime it does not boot up.
