Your idle speed is to high. These have (most of them) a wire wound round a drum for the clutch (called a bendix clutch) and it is very positive. so your idle must be real slow not to damage. it. If the engine will not run slow it's most likely problem is mixture adjustment after that would be the bottom seal.

David, you need to find a manual that gives you the shift rod height.. it must be set exactly right..
Get a service manual... follow it!

2009 , 50 hp mercury outboard 2 stroke, very hard to shift from forward to reverse . I disconnected the linkages at the motor and they work well. What can it be in the moter?

gearbox,,, bottom leg ..worn ?
check for water in the gearbox

Trying to get my 360 mopar running after rebuild

If that motor doesn't have hydraulic lifters, try loosening your rocker shafts. It will clatter, but it will run. That's what I had to do on my old slant 6.

B&S V-Twin 24 hp has done 150 hrs and has now started to backfire a lot. Engine starts well

Take off the valve covers and check the valve lash. @ tdc on compression stroke then same on exhaust stroke the clearance between the rocker and valve should only be .001 to.003 in.Carefully adjust to this tolerance,may cure your problem. seems this is a common problem.

I have a yahama 50 hp out board i lost my key and ther cord i cant seem to get the moter started by jumping it the new egnition is 300.00$ how can i get around buying a new one ??

I am pretty sure that you could just buy a cheap aftermarket ignition and use that. 300 is a pretty hefty price. You could also get it started with a piece of rope but would not be very fun.

Shifter jumps out of forward gear on 64 9 1/2 hp Johnson motor

sound like the shift fork, or fwd gear is damaged in the lower unit.....special tools are required for this repair .....if you got them cool, if not seek a shop for further assistance.......hope this helped...GL
