Duo Therm by Dometic 13500 BTU air conditioning with ducting, furnace. I. ... If the fan runs but no cold air and the compressor feels like it is ...
Are both the test breakers the same size (15A or 20A, etc)? Perhaps the breaker in the RV has a lower amp rating then the other one you are testing it on? If that's the case your test doesn't really tell you anything, they both need to be the same size to know where the problem may be.
THE OUTSIDE FAN MOTOR MIGHT NOT BE WORKING CAUSING THE COMPRESSOR TO GET HOT AND TRIP THE INTERNAL OVERLOAD IN THE COMPRESSOR - IF THE UNIT IS LOW IN FREON SAME RESULTS - WHEN UNIT IS FIRST TURNED ON DOES IT BLOW COLD AIR OR DOES THE AIR NOR FEEL COOL - JUST COOL AIR COULD BE LOW FREON - COLD THEN WARMS UP IS FAN PROBLEM
Hi, When the compressor starts you will hear the unmistakable noise associated with it...there is a definite hum from the compressor...check the t-stat on the unit... they often go bad..
check the and see if the condenser fan is running. you will find it if you take the top off also check and see if the condenser coil is clean. if it is dirty or the fan under the top is not running it will cause the compressor to short cycle on limits or overload.
Your choices are another Dometic or a Coleman I prefer the Coleman But the amount of extra cooling you will get by stepping up to a 15K unit will probability not be worth the added cost
You really need an Ammeter to check this problem. Just because it is a brand new unit does not mean that there isn't a problem with it. Is it run off of a wall thermostat or manual controls? The compressor has a thermal overload switch on the top (under the plastic cover) that will take the compressor out of the circuit if it gets too hot. However, if the entire unit is shutting off, there is another problem. Selector Switch? Thermostat? Let me know what kind of controls you have and we can go from there.
I have a dometic 13500 BTU Roof mount a/c. It is set up with the duo-therm analog thermostat. The system cools fine. The problem is that the a/c gets down to the right temp, then it turns off like it should but turns right back on within a few seconds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
