Hi guys,
I am trying to upgrade my HP Proliant ML350 G3 from a single to a dual Xeon CPU and cannot find any documentation on how to perform this upgrade. Both CPUs are exacly the same in speed and are supported by the ML350. I have installed the PPMs but cannot get the machine to recognize both CPUs on boot up. Any help would be much appreciated.

Anyone who has tried loading Windows Server 2008 on their Proliant ML350 G3 has found that HP does not offer the network driver for this system.
BUT, the Windows Server 2003 driver for the NC series Broadcom 1gb will work! Rather than choosing the 'install' option, choose to 'extract' it, then via the device manager, manually install the driver from that location.
HEAT, is a big factor. That is a mighty Xeon Server Quad Core CPU and when it gets to work it gives off heat.
You need to make sure that the chassis is well ventilated, install some fans to keep it cool. Clean the heatsink and surrounds of dust. Use a vacuum cleaner.
Also scan the system for Malware and Virues, these pieces of code simply get the computer to do a whole lot of nothing usefull to you. Find them and delete them. Usually a good cleaning will get it operating efficiently and effectively, giving you a responsive and productive computer system.
