It's not even the same model as the one listed, but I followed Steps 1 and 2 - every step of instruction was just as described - and I've got my printer back! Thanks again!

Problem started with repeated warning message that Yellow Ink was low (when it was actually nearly full), followed by warnings that Yellow Ink was now empty (when I had replaced Yellow cartridge with a new full one), Still said Yellow empty, and was followed by total shutdown of all functions "to prevent damage to printer". I have error code: Oxc 18a0306 and it says " Ink System Failure". Help. Suzanne

HP Photosmart C7180 will not accept new '02' yellow ink cartridge and repeatedly states 'printer does not have enough ink to ensure printer health. The empty ink cartridge must be replaced to resume.' This is the 2nd HP '02'yellow I've bought and it continues to say the same. This is an Ink System Failure message. I would try this guide. 'Ink System Failure' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error Message Displays on the Front Panel. To help resolve the issue.

Its tricky mechanism, once printer detects ink system failed it cannot be resetted. Do this take out cartridges from printer., open right cover., find out logic card., remove cmos battery., wait for 5 minutes., refix batyery., power on the printer., follow the screen messges ... I hope it will solve the issue..
* Switch off the device
* Unplug the Power cable of the device and the usb device of the printer
* Wait 30 seconds
* Plug the power cord and usb back
* Try test print
The "Ink System Failure" error is causes by air in the ink feed tubes. We have a free step by step guide purging the air from the feed tubes posted on our web site. IssueAn 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel. The printer cannot copy, receive faxes, or print. Solution Press the On button to turn the printer off. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer. Remove all the ink cartridges. Wait two minutes. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer. Press the On button to turn the printer on. Install the ink cartridges when prompted. If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved. If the 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the printer.

Changed new yellow ink cartdrige. Now machine tells me change Yellow ink.
