Scanner lamp is lock in one position - Xerox WorkCentre M15i Laser Printer

There you have some thing like a lever witch indicate the position locked or unlock if that lever is on the unlock possition then your problem it's more complicated you have few hints' check if scanner lamp lights if not check the cable band if light check the scannert engine and assembly

a) scanner lock (transportation lock)enabled.There is a yellow /orange lever next to the glass, make sure it has not been changed to the lock position.switch off/on(main power cord).

b) Sometimes noise with 3100- Scanner glass (big) come off from frame.

c) Is lamp on? if off PCB

d) Dust in optics unit. Clean all mirrors.

Hello my friend.If you open the scanners door under the document cover is one switch that locks and unlocks the scanner.Move it to the position that shows that is unlocked.If this doesnt work it means the scanner lamp is in the park position and is stuck. You need to lean the printer away from the sheet feed side and bump it on the side. This should fix it. If it doesn't turn off the power and remove the two screws that hold the scanner lid on. Then remove the other 6 screws located under the lid on the left side while the lid is hanging from lid open sensor cable . After removing the base screws you can set the lid on the scanner again while you lift the scanner bed exposing the scan lamp mechanism. Push it a few inches in the machine and close the lid. You can do a test by powering the unit on and hold the lid open sensor button located on the bottom left of the lid. The system should initialize and bring the scan lamp back to the proper position. Turn off replace all screws and your done. If it doesn't work the first time push the scanner lamp more into the scanning area and repeat until works.

When your copier arise problem on scanner unite.
If your scanner is lock position please unlock
or clean saner all surface.

There is no lock on the Visioneer 5800 USB scanner. I had the same problem with my 5800 and finally noticed that the scanner lamp was going bad. I replaced it with a good lamp out of an old Acer parallel port scanner that even had the same plug, noticed that an older HP that I have sitting around would have interchanged as well. My 5800 now works great and has been tried on both 98SE and XP with SP2.

Your copy lamp is faulty or scanner drive is not moving. Check the lamp and replace if not lighting.
If its the scanner, unlock the scanner lock above the paper exit tray.

it sounds like the scanner lamp is not coming on, the scanner shipping lock is still set, or the scanner unit is not coming to the home position

this error belogs to Exposure lamp problem ? cause of this error 1. Defective scanner PWB. 2.Defective exposure lamp or inverter PWB. 3.Incorrect shading position poor . 4.poor contact of the connector terminals Solutions:- 1. Replace the scanner PWB and check for correct operation. 2. Replace the exposure lamp or inverter PWB. 3.Adjust the position of the contact glass (shading plate). If the problem still occurs, replace the scanner home position sensor. 4.Check the connection of connector YC7 on the scanner PWB, and the continuity across the connector terminals. Repair or replace if necessary.

the scanner lock could be on. This is located above the paper exit
trat. It has a knob with a picture of a lock. It shoulb be in the lock position. The scanner bar could be dirty. This is located under the copier glass.
