Replace motherboard on a dv5 1159se laptop

Laptops provide great convenience because of their small and portability, but those features can become a real pain when you have a part that needs to be replaced. If the motherboard goes out on your HP Pavilion laptop, you can replace it on your own at home, but the cramped quarters and small parts can make it a very challenging endeavor. Power off your Pavilion laptop and remove the power cable. Flip the laptop over and press down on the raised knob on the battery cover. Push the knob away from you and then use your other hand to pull out the battery. Set the battery aside and turn the laptop back over. Open the lid so that the screen is up and facing towards you. Slide the screwdriver in-between the two edges of the large plastic bezel piece above the keyboard on the bottom half of the laptop. Pry the plastic bezel upward. Remove the cable connected from the plastic piece to the motherboard and set the piece aside. Remove the screws holding the hinges in place that connect to the top half of the laptop. Pull the hinges out. Remove the screws that are holding the keyboard and then pull the keyboard off. Pull out all of the cables that are connected to the other components such as the USB port, the hard drive and the wireless card (if your Pavilion has one). Remove all of the remaining screws that are holding the motherboard into place. Carefully pull the motherboard out. Place the new motherboard into the laptop case and re-attach all of the screws. Connect all of the cables back into place and then re-attach the keyboard, hinges and plastic bezel. Pop the battery back in and turn the laptop on.

When I flip my acer aspire 4315 screen it goes white.

A laptop display is one of the most expensive single parts to replace. It can be frightening to try to boot up your Acer Aspire one day and have it display only a white screen. Unless the screen itself has been broken, the cable between the laptop and the screen has either become disconnected or broken. This is a relatively cheap repair.

Disassembly
1.Disconnect the unit from AC power and remove the battery. This can be done by flipping the unit over, pressing the latch on the bottom of the unit and then pulling the battery away.
2.Remove the two screws revealed by removing the battery. Remove two additional screws set into the corners of the base on the edge where the battery was.
3.Turn the laptop over and open the lid. Remove the panel with the power button on it by gently pulling up from the top edge. Remove the keyboard by gently pulling at its top edge to release the four catches on the sides. Once it is free of the catches, flip the keyboard over and lay it down. If you wish, you can disconnect the ribbon cable leading to it and set the keyboard aside.
4.Unplug the video cable. The video cable is the thick wire coming out of the left hinge of the LCD. It is gray and rounded. The cable terminates in a rectangular plug that goes through the top of the laptop base.
5.Turn your attention to the LCD. Remove the rubber feet at each of the corners of the LCD. Remove the four screws that are revealed.
6.Pull the LCD bezel (the plastic part that surrounds the screen) away from the lid by starting at the top and pulling up and away from the inside with a rolling motion. The bezel is secured by plastic latches all around the outside, and pulling up with a rolling motion is the best way to get them to release without breaking. You can also take your blade or screwdriver and insert it between sections of separated lid and bezel to hold them apart and prevent re-latching. Be careful and patient with this step. Believe it or not, this is where the majority of laptop damage is likely to occur.
7.Remove the two cables connecting the inverter board to the LCD screen and the video cable.
8.Remove the four final screws holding the LCD panel into the lid. Two are at the bottom corners, just above and toward the center from the hinges. The other two are at the top center, holding the webcam and LCD to the lid. You should now be able to pull the LCD out of the lid and lay it face down on the base of the laptop.
9.Remove any tape securing the LCD cable gently, and then tug the cable out of its socket and set it aside.

Replacement and Reassembly
1.Begin by gently inserting the replacement video cable into the socket on the back of the LCD and re-securing the cable with the same tape from earlier. Lift the LCD back into the lid and screw the panel back into place. Finally, re-connect the two cables to the inverter board.
2.Press the bezel back into place with a firm, but not overwhelming, pressure. Each section should "click" when the latch engages and not separate again without effort. Replace the screws holding the bezel in place and then re-cover the screws with the rubber feet.
3.Plug the new video cable into the main board. Use a gentle and even pressure, making sure that everything is lined up. If you disconnected the keyboard, reconnect it and push it gently back into place until the catches reengage. Place the power-button panel back in place and press it down before closing the lid and flipping the laptop over.
4.Replace the four remaining screws and slide the battery back into place. Reconnect the laptop to AC power and turn it on. Your screen should now be functioning normally again!

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

Greetings,
check for a faint click when you close the lid..if you hear no click, paying close attention for sound..the lid switch is most likely bad..on some models..it prevents machine from spinning, but lets it wash..there is a way to get it to spin by hooking switch up direct...this is only good for checking as its a safety feature...raise console after UNPLUGGING and you will see a small block with three wires coming out of cabinet at right corner ...there will be a plug that goes into this with three wires and it comes off by holding a little tab and pulling it off. its this block that you want to make bypass..do not use the green wire as its ground, but make bypass beteen other two wires and it should drain and spin. make sure you tape this with electrical tape and purchase a new lid switch.

My receipt prints but won't cut the paper unless I open and close the lid.

the cover open switch has been bent down to far to register the lid being closed. Take of the rear cover lid and remove the four screws that hold the main cover on, you will have to tweek it over the on/off switch to remove. once the covers are off look for a black plastic piece that sticks up on the side of the printer with a spring attached at the bottom of it. once located, look near the bottom of it for the switch that it pushes down to tell the printer the top cover is down. it is plastic with two pieces of metal inside the plastic. That need to be bent back up alittle in order to fix this problem. Just dont bend it too much that it hangs in the up position. once done, replace covers, again tweeking over on/off switch. good luck

How do replace the battery on a EverWeigh Lithium Electronic Scale

The battery is located behind the LCD screen, slightly on the right hand side side if you are facing the LCD screen. You can drill a hole on the platic case from the back of the scale, and you will see the battery house and 3 screws on the battery house lid, unscrew the 3 screws, you can take out and replace the 3V Eveready button type battery easily.

I have tried to open the case by taking out the spring latches located behind the 4 legs of the scale, it was much harder to put every thing back afterward.

Replacing my washer lid assembly.

If your washer is a kenmore /whirlpool then you need to flip up the control panel after removing screws on either side of the console. Some models have plastic shoulders that hide the screws some have the screws int he read. Flip up the console and unplug the lid switch quick connect. Pop the 2 clips on the rear of the washer and tip the body foward.
On a GE you get the front panel off by compressing spring clips between the top and front. then remove screws from the facing that hold down the top. You will then wiggle out the top and unplug the disconnect. On a maytag washer you remove the control console to get to the lid switch.

Cover card open when it's shut

This problem is caused by the little piece of plastic that you flip down to hold the XD card in place. It has a nipple sticking out of it that is prone to breaking off. Unfortunately, this nipple (about 1/16" x 1/8" x 1/8") holds down a little button which tells the camera that the the plastic piece has been flipped down. Once the nipple breaks off, you need to find some other way to hold the button down.

I simply took a small plastic peg from an old boardgame -- a cribbage-board peg might work -- and whittled it down to fit the opening. Remove the XD card and you'll see the small 1/16" x 1/8" rectangular opening. There's a tiny, squarish black button inside. Use a toothpick or tiny screwdriver to carefully press the button in while the camera is on, and you'll see the error message disappear.

Once you get the idea, use a tiny Phillips screwdriver to remove the plastic piece that you flip down. There are two screws to remove, two little metal retaining brackets and a tiny metal rod. Be careful not to lose any of these pieces! Then gradually whittle your piece of plastic so it fits the rectangular opening snugly, and consistently turns off the error message. Then cut it to about 1/8" in length, insert it into the opening, and reassemble the rod, brackets and screws to hold it in place.

Now the little button will always be pushed in and the camera will be functional once again. Since the XD card has its own spring-loaded "locking mechanism" (you push to insert and push to remove), the piece of plastic you flip down isn't really needed in the first place. You can save it, anyway, just for the memories....
