after turning TV on try pressing guie or menu to see if that makes picture come on.

Check on the back of the TV to see if you have a "remote in" port. It will look the same as a 3.5mm headphone jack. Unplug the TV and plug a pair of headphone into the port and then remove it. Do this several times to breakup any debris that may have gotten into it or corrosion that may have occurred in the port. If something is in the port it will disable the standard remote sensor on the TV.

First, unplug the TV!
The power supply module, backlights inverter board may have burnt out, look at them first.

Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

Not so sure but looks like is seted up on HDMI input. So when you start it is trying to find and decode the signal but probably there isn't one. So try to switch it on another imput like TV or AV. Is there a death screen also, like no light no anything?

bad capacitors on power supply

You have capacitors in the power supply that need replaced. If your not electronically inclined then I would have a tech take care of it for you. It's not an expensive procedure.

Have You Rung LG or been to ther site

Yes, it is possible the settings from your cable box maybe set to the wrong ratio eg:letterbox. Depending on what type of box you have, look in the cable box menu for a settings option, then change the aspect ratio to a different format.
