Television suddenly powers off and on again

Hi,

This problem has been getting worse for the past couple of months - everytime I try to use the TV, after a few minutes, the unit suddenly turns off, then on again, then off again immediately, and on, looping like this endlessly until I hold the power button for a few seconds to turn the unit off completely. All my other devices (DVD, Playstation, sattelite box) work fine, so it's not a power fluctuation. Is it something that's worth repairing, or should I get a new TV? This unit is only four years old. Thanks!

Hi. I have a 2004 52' Flat screen projection TV. For the past couple months, we have turned on our TV and all we hear is sound, but no picture comes up. We thought the bulb was having problems. We ordered...

The buzzing is the ballast arc gap, normal sound. When the tv starts does the lamp start to come on. Can you see any light from the back? Sounds like bad ballast. Unfortunatly this part is no longer available. the light engine will have to be removed and sent to Toshiba to be rebuilt.

Won't turn on

Hi, everyone. Me too have the same problem. TV just stays in red but won't turn to blue. I tried unplugging then wait and restart again, sometimes it will work but lately that trick doesn't work anymore. Then somebody suggested to open the back of the tv (it's not hard... just a lot of screws and a couple of bolts to remove) and clean (vacuum) the exhaust fan. Out of frustration, I did open the back and clean the the fan (has a lot of dust on the blades) and everywhere where there is dust. Just be careful not to touch any part of the printed circuit board with the vacuum nozzle to eliminate the destructive effect of static electricity. Or while you're cleaning it you have to hold the metal frame with your other hand to ground yourself (by the way you have to unplug your tv before you start opening the back). After the cleaning then covering the back, the tv worked... for only a few hours. It did stop working again as soon as I turned it off then on again. Again I opened the back, this time I removed the power supply board ( that's the biggest board and located above where you connect all your wirings). Got myselt a small brush and start brushing and vacuuming the dust out. I don't know if the cleaning did the trick or it was the unplugging of the connectors from the power supply board. All these work did the job... my tv is still working for almost three weeks now. Another thing, when you have a a time warner cable with a dvr box where you can program its remote to power most of your equipment in sequence by pressing the remote power button, I set it so that the tv will be powered up last considering that power can fluctuate everytime a unit starts up specially when they are all connected to the same power/surge protector... tv doesn't like it when the power fluctuates while it is still starting. Hope these helps.... (Hitachi 42HDS69)
