I forgat pasword 1000GB my passport USB

My Passport is one of the external storage product lines produced by Western Digital, or WD. My Passport drives are designed for on-the-go use, unlike the enlarged devices found in the My Book series. Passports have slim cases constructed of heat-sinking materials such as aluminum -- which compensates for the lack of built-in fans. They range in storage capacity from 250 GB up to 1 TB, although out of the box this amount is diminished because of the installation of SmartWare, WD's user-friendly software. You can reset the password on My Passport from within the application if need be.

Click "Start" and select "Computer." Double-click the CD-ROM drive, then double-click the "SmartWare" application; on a PC, the application is listed as "WD SmartWare.exe," and on a Mac it is listed as "WD SmartWare.app." Click the "Settings" tab. Click "Set Up Drive." Select "Install" and accept the "End User License Agreement" when prompted. Click "Continue Setup." Open the "Security" tab. Type your current password into the box labeled "Password." Enter a new password and a new password hint. Confirm by checking the "I Understand" box and clicking "Update Security Settings." if this fails

I forget my password to unlock my wd smartware

There is no way to unlock the software or hard drive without the password. All you can do is format the drive and erase the data to get functionality of the drive back. If you have access to the SmartWare software, but not the hard drive, you still have to erase the data and can use the software to do so. Here are some instructions:

1. Well, if you have the WD SmartWare already installed you are in luck as there is Erase function built onto WD SmartWare software. There are 2 ways. #2 or #3.
2a. Click to Settings Tab on 4th right.
2b. Click to Set Up Drive
2c. Click Erase Drive and follow the instruction.
3a. Plug in the drive and you will be prompted to type in password.
3b. Type in 5 "wrong/bad" password
3c. This will trigger Too Many Attempts and asked to accept data loss and get drive back.

Hi

How to remove and unlock hard drive password? Is there any software to recover hard drive disk password? Where to download hard drive password cracker? Is it possible to reset the hard drive password?
According to manufacturers' website, if you forget your hard drive or hard disk password, there is no possible way to reset your password or recover data in the hard disk drive. Basically the hard drive is unusable. Scary right? However, this is often not true.
Most people are not aware that most hard disk drives have the ability to set a hardware password, just like the Bios password for motherboards, thus making the drive completely inaccessible unless a correct password is provided during the BIOS POST test. Usually these features can only be found in laptops, this is when you set a password on your notebook, the hard drive together with the motherboard becomes locked.
Most experts would say if you forget the original HDD or Bios password, there is no way of restoring it by generic system tools. Unlike the Bios password where there is a master key or with the removal of the bios battery, the password is erased from the flash memory thus the settings is restored to factory settings without the password, however, this does not applies to hard disk.

HDD Unlock Wizard is a user-friendly application which allows you to easily remove HDD password. IDE and SATA hard disk drives are supported. Both User and Master password can be removed. Please note that while unlocking, HDD Unlock Wizard will erase and re-certify the drive, meaning to say all data in the disk is lost and not recoverable. HDD Unlock Wizard incorporates proprietary unlocking algorithms which allow removing an unknown HDD password and making hard drive usable again. Download HDD Unlock Wizard now! 2.8MB only!

It may not be possible to recover the hard drive password or to unlock it; however, it is possible to remove the password together with the data, thus making your hard disk accessible and usable again.
