Can I connect a nonwireless computer to my 2wire modem using a linkedsys adapter? Also this computer has Windows ME & when I tried to connect it with an eternet wire internet explorer would not connect.

Yes you can but windows ME need the drivers of that adapter and (Very important ) The software for the wireless because ME don`t have wireless supported software as compare of xp,vista or 7 .
Make sure you have latest and updated drivers for the adapter and it should support ME .

It is 100% "normal" for the modem to *NOT* show up -- just use an Ethernet cable to connect from it to the network port on your computer.

Yes, you can. just make sure that the computer has a wireless capability, if not then you need to connect a wireless adapter so you could connect the computer to your 2wire router wirelessly. Another possible way to have it hooked up to your 2wire router is via Ethernet cable but depending on the distance you may need a longer cable.

Connecting Netgear USB adaptor to 2wire modem

Install the Adapter using the CD, After installing if its windows XP it will ask you to choose XP utility or Netgear utility, choose windows and scan for the network.
If its windows vista , go to start-Connect to - u will see the network name here , try connecting to it

Wirless router not working

it seems to be a problem with your ISP.May try these steps.

1. disconnect the router from the computer and the modem.
2. now connect the Ethernet cable to the modem & to the computer and see if that works.
else contact your isp.

My computer was wireless until I changed modems becausethe old one stoppd working

If you are using Windows XP, you go to start --> control panel --> network connections --> right click on wireless network connections & go to properties --> go to wireless network tab --> delete / remove all the networks under preferred network box then click on view available wireless or configure then connect to your network by clicking on the name of your modem --> type in the wireless password.

2wire dropping xp pc

hello!

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem

Step 1try to connect your computer directly to the modem and check if you will also experience problem
Step 2: Shutdown the computer.
Step 3: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 4: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 5: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear
stable.
Step 6: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 7: Power on the computer on and configure router settings if neede
Step 8:test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, maybe you need to upgrade the firmware of your router
