I have an LG LS092 HE Mini Split system. The remote comes on with the display and shows the read out, but it does not change the temp on the head unit when I try to change it with the remote. I can turn the power on the head unit on but it only shows the last temperature that it was set. It works, but I would like to turn it up and it does not have a manual temp control. Everything has to be done with the remote. Seems to be a communications issue. Both the head unit and the remote seem to be working good, but they are not talking together

There will be manual butting near the display. Lift the front cover and you can see. But no option to change mode or setting temp. It's strictly advisable to buy new remote.Thanks.
If the units are close to each other they will both read the same setting. You just have to get the remote really close to the wallmont air handler you want to command.
First check your circuit breaker or fuse that supplies power to the outside unit. It's probably separate from the inside unit. Then try to turn unit on. If the fan and compressor just make a humming sound then turn it off and check the capacitor if you have a multimeter. You can also look at it and see if the top looks expanded. That's a good sign its bad, but not all bad one's look expanded. Tomorrow I will have access to an LG service manual and can let you know what the code means. Sorry I can't get it sooner. Let me know what you find.
there is a lot of reason why your LG split unit would not work by remote control.
first likely trouble is the remote itself. it could have drop from a height and broke the remote, or corrosion has set inside the remote if you left an old battery for a long time and it could have broken it.
secondly which is not more likely to happen is the remote receiver in your unit got broke that is why it can not communicate with your remote controller. it could happen if someone has serviced your evaporator and could have disconnected wires to the receiver , or wires were just left not connected.
you can test the remote if you have an identical unit which is working with a working remote. use the working remote to your unit then you can decide.
i hope i was able to help.
