SOURCE: shuts down
A Vista Upgrade from XP could cause problems, and even the one you describe, but not an "update" usually. But then again, if when it shuts itself down, if you have to press the power button twice to get it to start back up, I would say that the processor is overheating (in which case the system does this to keep from frying the CPU). If that's the case, a cleaning of the fan and heat sync could fix the problem. You could also run temperature monitoring software (plenty are available for free trials).
As always more detailed information on this issue you are having would help.
Good luck.
SOURCE: toshiba boots up power light stays on and shuts down, bad m/b ?
I own a Laptop Toshiba Satellite A75-S2131.
This series have a problem with the cooling flow to the processor.
The processor overheats and the laptop shuts down.To solve this particular problem you must tear down the laptop and clean up the processor heatsink (you will find it totally plugged or partially dirty).
Find in the internet the step by step instructions (with photos) for dismantling this laptop. Do not forget to apply thermal paste between processor & heatsink.
I hope this solution helps.
