For installing the modem the easiest way is to run the provided cdrom.
When not available perform the settings as showed in the guides.

See page 7 "Before You Begin" for the requirements and selecting either USB or Ethernet connection.
Page 22 gives the overview for the pages how to configure ethernet settings.

You need to register your modem with your cable provider. They will need the MAC address which is on the side or Bottom of the unit.
