Facebook has become an integral part of many people's daily lives by keeping them connected to friends and family, which can make not being able to get on the site quite frustrating. Facebook does experience occasional downtime and other issues, but if you're consistently having problems accessing it, a browsing filter, firewall or outdated software could be the culprit.

Browser Requirements:

You may have problems accessing Facebook if you haven't upgraded your Internet browser in awhile. As of 2011, Facebook recommends using Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 3 or Safari 4 for the best user experience. Updates to these browsers are free and can be found at the companies' websites. Some older computers may not be able to run the latest browser version and, therefore, have trouble displaying Facebook and other sites correctly.

Home Blocks:
Home computers also have tools to block certain websites; parents often install them to keep kids' Web activity under control. If this is your situation, you will have to talk to Mom and Dad about unblocking Facebook for you. If you have a PC with multiple user accounts, the "admin" is often the only account with permission to install or uninstall filtering software and extensions; you'll need to be logged into this account to change a filter's settings
.
Firewalls:

Many computers and their antivirus programs now enable firewalls by default. Firewalls help protect your computer from malicious viruses and software, but sometimes they block access to sites you legitimately want to access. If you suspect your firewall is limiting your Facebook access, check the settings in Windows' Control Panel or in the program that enables the firewall, such as your antivirus software or wireless router software. Making the settings more permissible could solve the problem.

Cant logout of facebook settings button does not work

Alot of things here.
First, on internet explorer or firefox, goog chrome. You may need to clear out settings.
Second, try logging out of facebook on another browser.
So, if you use Internet explorer, download firefox or google chrome and see if same issue occurs.
Last, i would check your pc itself and update java
Hope this helps.

I cannot log into Facebook for the last few hours dur to site issues...any advice please would be appreciated ?

Good Day Farrell!

That is normal if Facebook is undergoing its server maintenance.

But if that problem is internet browser issues, I do advise you to use other internet browser like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to sign in to Facebook.com.

Listed below are the most common internet browser download sites that you can access to download to use as your new internet browser.

1. Internet Explorer Download

2. Mozilla Firefox Download

3. Google Chrome Download

I logged into facebook and it will not let me chat because it says that i have to upgrade my browser to internet explorer 9 how do i dothat

You can download the latest Internet Explorer from Microsoft's website.(http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/products/ie/home)

You can only upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 unless you have Windows 7 as your operating system.
Personally, I would suggest using a different browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Both of these browsers are more secure and faster than Internet Explorer and should allow you to chat on Facebook. Here are the respective links:
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/
Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/landing_chrome.html?hl=en
I hope this helps!

Error message states: Internet explorer has stoped working. Window is checking for a solution to the problem. Problem has not been resolved.

Try using another web browser like Firefox (www.firefox.com) or Google Chrome (www.google.com/chrome). These browsers are often able to use more websites than Internet Explorer can.
