DVD Player not working

But for some reason the TV itself works just fine. I've tried using the remote, tried pressing the buttons on the tv (it won't even open), have looked at the manual, and contacted the company--all they could do was tell me to send it in and pay 70 bucks to fix it, or take it back to Circuit City. It was a display model, and I have Dish Network if that helps at all

How to play dvd

If you are using the built-in DVD tray, press TV (in case you have a Cable Set-top box). Then press Input and navigate with the up/down keys to the line labeled DVD. Then press OK. Finally press play on the Polaroid TDA-03211C remote or on the side of the TV. The remote play button is in the center of the row below the row with skip reverse and skip forward buttons.

If you are using a different DVD player, press the input button and then the up/down arrows to get to the input for your DVD player. Then press the DVD button to control the DVD player.

If you are using a universal remote control, then you may need to program it to the TV and the DVD player separately. (Some universal remotes may only support the TV functions of this TV.) Make sure that your universal remote has an input button that works. You may need to try multiple codes for Polaroid TVs.

I hope this helps.

(note: the DVD must be correctly installed so that the printed side (label) is facing the front of the TV. If you do not get a response, try the disc in another DVD player. The DVD player laser tracking can fail without warning. If the disc plays in other units, this may be the problem.)

It sounds that the laser pickup unit of the DVD player have damaged. Check and replace it.

My remote won't work for my DMP-BD75

If both the remote (which can be tested by a shop for free) AND the front buttons do not work I suspect the unit may have a lock out that disables everything on both except for on off..........

Ingot my Philips remote programmed on my tv and DVD player. It works but when using DVD player the buttons don't function as its proper function. For example the play button puts the tv on mute,

It is a common problem with any universal remote controls. Try an other code for your device. Select one code which has maximum functionality. Than is the only thing have to do.

My RCA XL100 is hooked up to cable and works perfectly fine. We've had it for ages and the picture is clear, sound is beautiful, and it gets along fine with my universal remote. There's just one...

Some of their very old sets the video input was located on channels in the 90's; Try scrolling down from 99 to 90 to see if you locate the video input; this is just the way they did things in the older sets.

Before you rate this solution let me know what you find first.

I am trying to get a remote code for my slyvania 6719

I also can't find the remote for my Sylvania
TV/VCR/DVD combo...
Model number 6719DF. I don't normally use this tv
(it's an extra spare that I plug into our generator when
the power goes out... since our regular family TV is
quite big and set into the wall making it difficult to
track cords around, I drag this crappy Sylvania down
from our dining room to our family room) I did
happen to find an old Zenith universal remote that
does work with it in some ways (See directions
below). I can turn the TV on and off, set the channels,
language, clock.. etc through the Input select button
on the universal remote but can't set to "Game Mode"
after using connections with video/audio input cords
plugged into the front panel of the TV. So
Playstations, extra dvd players or vcr's, etc won't
work.
Switching from the VCR to DVD and vice versa does
require manually setting the tv itself (remote doesn't
work with that) but at least I can set sub titles, fast
forward through chapters on Dvd's and control the
volume, etc without having to constantly walk over to
the tv.
Programming the remote: I've noticed a lot of people
have tried using codes supplied by different universal
remote providers and couldn't find a code that
worked using their lists with this particular model...
there is a way that it can be done but it's a bit more
time consuming:
Many types of "universal" remotes give the option of
"scanning" the electronic device for a code if one is
not available or the one provided with lists does not
work... Every universal remote though needs certain
buttons pushed during the "scan" and they are all
different! Ha! So if you lost or misplaced the MANUAL
as well (like me!) you might need to do a search on a
manual for your particular universal remote, but I can
at least give you directions on programming a
"Zenith" Universal remote to "scan" for a Sylvania
TV/DVD/VCR combo model 6719DF:
Using the Zenith Universal Remote or any Universal Remote using it's "scan" method:
1: Shut off the TV
2. Press and hold "Code Search" on the remote until
the red LED
light lights up and stays lit.
3. Press the device button for the device (In my case,
for my crappy Sylvania combo, I pressed "TV".)
The LED light will blink once.
4. Scanning: Slowly press and release the "Power"
button on the remote, waiting a few seconds between
while watching the TV to turn on. It's very important
that you pause in between because if you do it too fast
and the TV turns on before you press the power
button again... you'll have to start all over. I've
learned that lesson.
It took 160 presses each time on that button to get the
correct code scanned! I had to do it over 3 times
before I stopped myself beforehand because I was
pressing it too quickly..
5. Right after the TV power turns on, press the "Mute"
button on the remote to set the code. It should work with few limitations (no "game" mode)
after that.

DVD Player Only Produces Snow After Power Outage. Halp!

Sounds like your TV has lost the DVD channel. Turn off TV and make sure the DVD player is connected to TV and is playing a DVD. Now put you TV on and press the SOURCE or AV button on your TV remote until you can see the DVD channel. In older TVs you may need select channel and tune it manually using the TV setup.

Remote

this is from your producer: Product Description ? BASIC OPERATION OK ? everyone knows what a handheld remote control unit does for your home electronics. You can control your basic four (4) components: TV, DVD player, VHS player, Cable or Satellite tuner. Setup is simple for these basic 4? put in the batteries, look up the manufacturer of your component (Mitsubishi TV) and note the possible 3-digit ?program codes?? turn on the component, press the remote control?s PROGRAM button until the light stays red, press the component button (i.e., TV), enter in the ?program code?, and press the ?power off button? ? if the component (i.e., TV) turns off: you are programmed! If the component (i.e., TV) doesn?t turn off, then repeat the sequence using another of the manufacturer?s program codes until it does. Easy ? took me about 3 minutes to program my old Zenith TV (in the bedroom), my SONY DVD player, and my Mitsubishi S-VHS player. No problems at all. HOWEVER, in case you do run into a component for which the ?program codes? don?t work? you can go through a sequence to self-identify the coding. While I won?t go into it here, it is only slightly more time consuming than the other method. As my codes worked fine, I can not address this aspect, so I won?t make a claim we didn?t test.
