  • george orantes Aug 14, 2011

I test the sensor thermistor at the board with the two sensors from the back of the circuit board readings At 200K settings gave me from 4 points on the plug that plug to the thermistor on the board where the 2 sensors one goes to pipe temp and the other intake temp the intake temp reads at 75 degrees from 1 to 2 =16.7...... pipe temp from 3 to 4 = 22.1 I have taken another reading earlier and it was about the same intake 16.1 at 77 degrees and pipe temp at 21.7 so what do need to do to know, what it is that is happening you are really making me a Thecnician thanks alot

I saw no EE mentioned in the legend or otherwise, perhaps the model and serial # you will get an answer from the manufacturer.

Hi.

EE means energy efficiency. hen EE is displayed there can be a defective thermistor or insufficient ventilation.

The following works on some A/C system: "When EE is displayed, press "energy save" and "zone control" simultaneously for about 5 secs"

Try also testing the system in auto mode, check ventilation and if possible test thermistor by reading impedance with a multimeter.

If when EE is displayed the unit also becomes non-responsive and does not turn off, then the problem may also be a defective controller board. Other parts, included the ones mentioned before, must be tested before replacing the control module.

Regards.

    Hi.

Panasonic AC thermistors reading should range from 10K Ohms to about 35KOhms depending on temperature. If the thermistor is open or shorted (<1 Ohm) replace it.

14.2.2 To Make a Diagnosis:
1 Timer LED starts to blink and the unit automatically stops the operation.
2 Press the CHECK button on the remote control continuously for 5 seconds.
3 "- -" will be displayed on the remote control display.
Note: Display only for "- -" (No signal transmission, no receiving sound and no Power LED blinking)
4 Press the TIMER ? or ? button on the remote control. The code "H00" (no abnormality) will be displayed
and signal will be transmit to the main unit.
5 Each press of the button (? or ?) will increase error code
number and transmit error code signal to the main unit.
6 When the latest abnormality code on the main unit and
code transmitted from the remote control are matched,
Power LED will light up for 30 seconds and a "beep" sound
(continuously for 4 seconds) will be heard. If no codes are
matched, Power LED will light up for 0.5 seconds and no
sound will be heard.

When you have the error code you will be able to diagnose the fault.

What causes a unit will turn on for about 1sec and then shuts down with the letters EEon display

EE is an ERROR code typically it is a disconnect from the control and the unit, this is inclusive I believe so the thermistor or sensor is bad or off at the board.
