JVC AV-27850 TV power holding circuit not holding. When I press the 'power' button I hear a relay (ss?) click and the power LED flashes but, it won't power on. It's been giving me porblems for a couple of weeks and seems heat related as in, when it's warmed up it works better. It this common and do I need to replace the power supply or just some components?

Mr. York, you give very little information, but from what I gather. All Tv's have the ability DISPLAY the channel all the time or for a short time after changing. GOTO menu or display button on the Remote control [r\c] and you should see that the time display can be change.

1. simultaneoulsy press and hold [menu] and [vol-] on TV side panel
2. press and release [power] on TV side panel
3. count to 5 and release[menu] and [vol-]
4. TV should have turned on
5. if not, unplug TV and press[power]
6. repeat from step 1 if the TV does not power on the 2nd time

Quick solution:
Weigh yourself on a scale. If you can, pick up the TV and step on the scale again. The difference between the two readings is the weight of your TV.

Hello, I am a tv tech. I worked on a JVC AV-32D502 today. Problem: led flashes / no power or picture at all. Same as trobertson52's set. The microprocessor is bad in my machine. trobertson52, if your sets' relay does not click when the power button is depressed you most likely have the same problem or the standby power circuit is at fault. That circuit supplies +5 volts to the micro.

Edtal you have a different problem with your machine. Your machine is going into shutdown. A number of circuits could cause this and would need to be looked at by a technician to determine exactly which circuit is at fault. High voltage transformer (HOT) \ Vertical Circuit \ Power supply are the most likely causes.

Check for swollen top on power supply capacitor ......check
all caps with ESR meter....all with C900 series location #'s..
also check C523 in horiz drive circuit..............T.

generally buttons are located at front only. but if it is not there then it will be inside in the shape of small variable res. called preset. vertical hold button will be near vert.section &horz hold near h/ section.

try this:
Click "Display" and "Picture Mode" simultaneously this worked on my jvc av-25lx14

if it didnt work or if you dont have those buttons then try this:
click on "Muting" and "Info(its the button that has the"i" symbol"
