Answered

There is a delay between pressing button and photo being taken with my samsung s7000. The delay means that the subject (child) is out of view by the time the photo is taken.

Hi Susan, and welcome to FixYa-
I have had the exact problem that you are describing, albeit a different make and model of camera. Here's how I solved my issue:
I grabbed the nearest heavy object and smashed the camera....
No, but seriously, try this:
The S700 has the standard "Scene Selector" knob on the top. Make sure that this is NOT pointed toward (set to) the "Self Timer" option. The icon for this, on the camera's body, looks similar to the "Auto" setting icon.
The S700 has 3 timer modes: a 10 second delay, 2 second delay and a "Double" mode wherein the camera waits 10 seconds, takes one picture then, after an additional 2 second delay, will take a second picture. The delay must be selected by the user and will appear in your LCD viewing screen. Prior to taking a test picture, look in the display screen to see if any numbers appear. If you see any, you know that the camera is in the Self Timer mode. Simply rotate the button on top of the camera to the "Auto" icon and you'll be all set.

Hello. Make sure the "child lock" hasn't been activated--it will lock the control panel functions. To de-activate it if on, press and hold the "prewash" button for at least 3 seconds. You will see the "child lock" become unlit in the display and the machine will work normally. Also, make sure the "delay wash" hasn't been activated--get your user manual and read the section on "delay wash"--you aren't the first--and definitely won't be the last user who has inadvertently set the delay wash feature! Static subject, but 15-20 second delay after pressing shutter button before photo is taken. Manuel mode, autofocus lens. I have 7 other d70s that all perform fine.
have you contacted Nikon about this issue, they stand behid their products and since you have bought so many of these it seems to me that they will listen to you. Have you tried the camera in "auto" mode just to see if the problem is there too?

Setting the timer
Press the 4-way switch downwards to cycle through the selftimer modes: First press shows the selftimer symbol, which means 10 secs delay, next press shows selftimer2 symbol, which gives 2 secs delay. When delay is set, press the shutter button to take the picture. The selftimer lamp will blink untill the picture is taken.

Delay between pressing button and actual photo taken
hi

there is a lot to takin good pictures but its easy too

now when are you facing this prob during low light situations or regularly

if it is during low light then pitching up ur ISO settings say from some 80 or 100 to atleast 400 or 800 should do the trick but beware of a lil picture noise,

also u can turn on the continuous focus(CF) setting

also when you are taking a picture try to focus on the subject by pressing and holding the shutter button only halfway then once you r safisfied with the way it looks press it down all the way to take the picture this works for all photos whether in day light or during low light

Need to take an auto time delay picture, left manual at home.........
The Rebel XT (EOS-350) manual states that turning on the selftimer is done by:

  1. Pressing the icon button that looks like a stopwatch
  2. Frame up your subject
  3. Press the shutter button and then wait 10 seconds for the picture to be taken.
Notes: Do not stand in front of the camera while you press the shutter button. Tripod is the best tool to use in self timer situations.

Red eye
This camera is bad for red eye. It's just a problem that happens when the flash is so close to the lens. Red eye occurs when the flash illuminates the subject's retina.

The only solution, really, is to add an external flash that's farther away from the camera lens, which is not an option with this camera. The other, is to get better at taking photos without flash. Higher end cameras have better ways to deal with the red-eye, but these usually involve preflashes that close the subjects pupils (by blinding them with a preflash) before the actual exposure is taken. The Sony DSC-U30 has it as a feature, but it doesn't work very well, I've found. When it does work, it's a nice compromise as it gets rid of the red eye, but it also introduces a delay between pressing the exposure button and the actual taking of the photo.

Unless the light is very dim, I don't use flash with this camera.

After you've taken the photo and have downloaded it, there are ways to edit the red eye out that can be pretty effective.

Taking a photo of the family, delaying the camera until I can get into the shot.
Sure, follow these steps...
  • Set everyone in an even composition, close together, maybe some standing, some sitting, whatever strikes you as a good picture.
  • Put the camera on a tripod or other tall article
  • Press the Mountain/Macro/Timer button until the (clock/timer) icon is displayed on the viewer. The button to press is just above the MF (Manual Focus letters)
  • Press the shutter button all the way down to activate the timer.
    • Press once for ten-second delay
    • Press twice for three-second delay
    • Press a third time to stop the timer
  • Jump into the shot! =)
The lamp next to the lens will start to blink and continue until one second before the picture is taken. The lamp will then stay solid during the last second to warn about the picture being taken.
