Hook a spare monitor to the computer, if okay! the problem is with the HP monitor "LCD panel defective" not cost effective to repair. But if symptoms are the same for both, the video graphics card on the computer is defective, sub a video cord from the computer to the monitor if possible to cover all angles.

Hello, I opened the LCD monitor to right angles

The most likely cause for this is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Viewsonic vp2000s LCD computer monitor - no image displayed; possible backlight outage.

It is possible that the backlight has quit working. Use a flashlight, held at an angle to the display, to see if there is a faint image visible. If so, then have backlight repaired. Otherwise, try a different input / cable.

I just recently acquired a Viewsonic VA521 LCD monitor from a friend who experience a power surge/outage. When hooked up and powered on, it shows the desktop for a split second, then seemingly goes black,...

It is possible that you can adjust your refresh rate. You may need another monitor to set the rate.

You may also be able to boot into safe mode. Try pressing F8 as soon as the system completes the POST (if you can see it). From safe mode, you can adjust the rate.

Can you get anything from the monitor without connecting to a computer? You should try to reset the monitor to its default settings.

Can I change the angle of my viewsonic screen

Here is what you can do ergonomically;

Height adjustment range 8.1cm / 3.2", tilt, swivel range 360º
So, yes you can tilt the monitor's angle, but if you are asking about the viewing angles then no you cannot.

When i turn on my monitor it shows my desktop then shuts off after 10 seconds...never stays on

elainenemeth, Hi, Tell me more! How old is this LCD monitor? Is it out of warranty? Did the "SHUT-DOWN-IMMEDIATE" problem occur without warning? Did the BenQ display a "perfect" image the day before? Did you actually count----1001, 1002----1010 and then it shut down, after pushing the monitor on button. Did you do the "flashlight" test? With monitor connected to a "known-good", fully booted pc with Win Desktop displayed, TURN ON the monitor! Did it display the desktop for 1-2-10 seconds ? What did you see or not see when you pointed the flashlight at different angles about 1-2" inches from the now dark (black) screen? Get back to me with your results. I will offer the best advice possible to you as a consumer/user of LCD/FPD monitor. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @ aol.com Bye for now.

How to angle the monitor

I have Model X203H & had the same problem. The support CD explained how to adjust the monitor:

Screen position adjustment
To optimize the viewing position, you can adjust the monitor tilt by using
both of your hands to hold the edges of the monitor.
The monitor can be adjusted to 15 degrees up or 5 degrees down.

LCD Monitor Repair

With the computer on and the monitor connected, shine a flashlight at a slight angle on the screen and see if you can make out a picture. If you can, then it is most likely the ccfl inverter, if not possibly the power supply of the monitor.
