Plug unit in via USB and see 'gigabeat' on the LCD screen with status bar at bottom. Status bar gets to end and unit doesn't start up but goes blank and then restarts with 'gigabeat' on the LCD and the status bar at the bottom... just keeps repeating... Computer doesn't see the MP3 player when it's plugged into the USB port... ???

Try turning off the player and then back on again. The battery status should update and show full charge.
Restart your PC and reconnect the player and it should appear again.
Simply pulling out the USB cable can cause a communication error, so it's always best to use the 'Eject USB device' option. When you want to disconnect, the player will be listed as an external hard drive when you open up 'My Computer', right click on the drive and select 'Eject'.

Plug the USB terminal into a port and when the unit asks you if you want to connect to the computer tap No. If your screen displays a status bar, tap in the middle of the bar and you will see a map of the last trip. The battery gage will appear on the top right corner, along with the satellites.
If you do not have an old itinerary stored, plan one in the neigbourhood so as to make the status bar appear and tap in the middle of it.
Horizontal status bar on the left corner where is shows the directional arrows
Vertical status bar: On the top corner, where directional arrow are shown
After you tap the correct corner of the status bar, a volume slider appears at the bottom of screen. Move slider to the right to increase volume, or to the left to decrease volume.

have you only been charging it with the usb cable?
try plugging it into a ac adaptor, (make sure the button is in the off position at the bottom)
and it should hopefully restart, then turn it to the on when it's loaded, and leave it plugged in till it's completely charged
hello all my gigabeat f20 had that system error 00000010 on it so i removed the top and bottom cap, then i removed the rear cover off the unit (it takes a bit of force and the end caps just pull off). i noticed the long plug attaching the hard drive to the unit had semi-detached so i simply pushed it back on.NOW ITS FIXED!!!!!
I called and they told me,i have the same problem, to just turn the battery switch ( bottom thing) off and charge it over night via wall outlet. hope it helps im trying it as i type so i wouldn't know...
