Scheduled a timer recording of a program on a DVD+R and when I went to play it back all I got on the screen was noise and snow. I now realize that I used the wrong disc (should have used only DVD-R). After removing the disc, I still get the noise and snow and cannot record another program. However, I can play a movie from a commercial DVD.

As soon as I turn on my DVD Recorder, the screen is full of snow and makes a noise. When I click "easy navi", the square with the words "title" underneath is all snow. Any other suggestions? Thank you

    In answer to your questions:
    1. Model D-KR4SU - 120V AC 60 Hz 21W - Manufactured 2/2005 CY

    2. Built-In Tuner - I have checked spec sheet in owner's manual and it does not say anything about a built-in tuner. Don't all DVD recorders have this?

    3. Have Cable - no antenna.

    Thank you - leialoha7

Hi,During timer recording adjustment you must have selected what ever you want to record..i.e: Tuner Channel , or ,Video1 input ,or Video 2 input etc..This problem is related with Source selection but not with - + type Disc..wrong disc will refuse to record at the beginning..

The noise and snow shows that your recorder was Recorded an unadjusted RF channel..thus no TV signal was available during recording ..
I assume that your DVD recorder has built in TV tuner in...To correct the problem, first you make an automatic Ch set up ,search the available channels either on the Cable (if you have ) or RF local channels thru Arial Antenna..
than you try to record again by carefully selecting ..you will record TV RF channels successfully. Or you can attach another video source to your Recorder thru the RCA cables on the back panel and by selecting the respective SOURCE in accordance withe cabling you have made than you will record the AV signals available on your Receiver..
If you need more help pls let me know for further advise.

Dear Friend...I have finally download your Recorder`s user manual..As I have propose on my first message your recorder can record from different sources but you must select the right source during programming of recording at the beginning .Recording variations for many types of programs or situations. Before recording Selecting a disc according to purposes of use (DVD-RAM/ DVD-R/RW)
    Setting for recording on a DVDR/RW disc in Video mode;
a..Recording a TV program (To record a TV program or cable program with
    recorder tuner.)
    b. Recording an external source
    c. Programing a recording
AT THE BEGINNING YOU HAVE TO Press INPUT SELECT repeatedly to select a recording source.
To record a TV program currently being broadcast, follow the procedures of this chapter.
    Preparation
    • Load a DVD-RAM/R/RW disc into the recorder.
    - Load a disc which has sufficient space available to record the program.
    - Make sure the loaded disc is not write-protected.
    • If you record on a DVD-R or a DVD-RW disc, set "DVD compatible mode" ( page 33) to "Main" or "SAP." In DVD-R/RW recording, "Off" setting is regarded as "Main."
    • If you record on a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc, set "Aspect ratio(Video mode)" ( page 33) according to recording sources.

IN CONCLUSION IF YOU PROPERLY SELECT THE RECORDING SOURCE AT THE BEGINNING YOU WILL SUCCEED TO COMPLETE THE RECORDING PROCESS..OTHERWISE YOU WILL CONTINUE TO RECORD ONLY NOISE AND SNOW ..
    I HOPE IT HELPS...MY REGARDS..
If you need more help pls let me know for further advise.

How to program JVC vcr/dvd/tv remote 076D0FB010 for taping future tv shows. I can only tape shows live on my JVC HR-XVC1U machine.

It sounds like the remote you have, the JVC 076D0FB010, does not have the capability to program future recordings on your JVC HR-XVC1U or HR-XVC27U machines. This feature is typically called "timer recording" or "scheduled recording," and it is controlled by the VCR's built-in programming features, rather than by the remote.
You may want to check the user manual for your JVC HR-XVC1U and HR-XVC27U machines to see if there is a way to set timer recordings using the VCR's own controls. If the manual does not provide instructions for timer recording, it is likely that this feature is not available on your VCRs.
Alternatively, you can consider purchasing a universal remote that has the ability to program future recordings. Some popular universal remotes include the Logitech Harmony and the Philips Universal Remote Control.

Record tv to dvd on Funai recorder

The Funai ZV427FX4 doesn't have a tuner. You'll need a set-top box (either a digital tuner or a cable box) that has a composite A/V out. Make sure to use a compatible DVD-R or DVD-RW disc (see page 27 of the manual given below). For basic recording, insert a DVD and press DVD to make sure that the recorder is ready to record to disc instead of video tape. (You may need to format the disc for DVD-RW.) Press Rec Mode until the correct mode is chosen. Then press Input to select composite input 1 or 2 (L1/L2). Set this source to the desired channel. Then press Rec. (For scheduled recording, make sure that the unit is set to DVD. Then press Timer. Follow the on-screen cues to set the time to start and end the recording. Otherwise the steps are the same. Then press Timer Set.) See the manual for screen-shots of the procedure.

The manual for this model is available on the product page: http://www.funaiamerica.com/product/product.php?id=877 . Click on the Downloads tab. The direct link is currently http://www.funaiport.com/download/download.php?id=3361&brand=FUNAI . For older Funai units with an NTSC tuner, you will probably still need the set-top box. However, you can either connect the box to the composite video or RF input. (If you want to record a program from a low-power analog station, you would skip the set-top box.)

I hope this helps.

Just hooked up my new Magnavox DV220MW9 DVD Player ? VCR Recorder. I was able to set the time and a vcr timer program but now I can't switch the source. It now comes on as the DVD but neither the remote...

You need to release the timer to access the VCR. Press the Timer Set button on the remote or the Stop/Eject button on the recorder. Then press the VCR button.

Please note: the scheduled recording will not run as programmed unless you press the Timer Set on the remote again. (The timer locks the VCR until the scheduled ON time.) The DVD player is controlled separately and becomes the default unit.

I hope this helps.

What can we do if the video tapes being played have Snow and try to play the video player with cleaner, we have to turn on and off. It automatically lose control.

Head cleaner tape for vcr just dry scrubs the rotating head for a short time. Remove it to check playback performance, to see if head is clean. If good, then record some program and see if snow is gone. some tape maybe recorded when the head is dirty, lots of snow. Some tape may have improvement if tape is run over knife edge to hone the magnetic surface, US patent granted years ago to reduce computer tape noise.

Every program scheduled to record starts and ends five minutes early? So the end of the preceding program is recorded and the end of the selected program is cut off.

BigBillO,

One of the options for the DVR recordings is starting and ending before the program starts and ends. You can change this setting to your preference. To change , press the DVR button 2 times on your DISH remote. This will bring up the "My Recordings" screen on your TV. Go to "Schedule" button on the right side of the screen. Press select. You should be on the "Daily Schedule" screen. Go to "Timers" button on the right of the screen. Press select. You are now on the "Timers List" screen. Select one of the programs scheduled to be recorded and press "Select". You are now on the "Timer Schedule" screen. Go to "Options" button and press select. You are now on the "Timer Options" screen. This is the screen you can set your preference for the "start early" and "stop late" settings. Be sure to select the "Set as System Default" if you want to apply this setting to all your recordings. I hope this helps.

Capable of recording digital programing?

I haven't tried this yet, but I remember reading the converter box instructions. The converter box has to be on the same channel as the one you are recording. Hope that helps. Now if I could just get mine to play anything at all.

Daewoo vcr won't playback images

Then JJ Adams,

I can think of only these reasons for your problem.
1. the VCR is not Recording a Signal.
2. Perhaps you have not selected TUNER as the Signal Input
If this the case, you will get a screen with a lot of 'Snow' .

Better check your VCR setup first, before calling Technician to have a look at the Recording Circuits.

Hi, Have just purchased Samsung DVD HDD recorder (DVD-SH855). Everything works great except the timer recording. When i schedule a recording, the system wont start recording. The recording light flashes...

I had the same issue. It turns out that the recorder has to be switched off otherwise it won't record. The unit will power itself on at the scheduled time and record your program. It doesn't make any sense to me why this would be a requirement but it solved the problem for me.
