I was given a sportstart 3100hr treadmill in brand new condition. There wasn't a manual with it and I can't get the incline to work. When I press the incline button it makes the noise like it is trying to raise the treadmill and then it beeps and says ERROR 6. Any help on what the problem might be? Also, where can I get a manual? Thank you.

I own the same treadmill and lost the incline as you describe. I toubleshooted(?) the condition and found that the nylon gear (28,81 or both) was stripped. I ordered a replacement for a few dollars and installed it. Work carefully and be prepared to get greasy as you will need to disassemble the elevation motor (item 30). See link below for the exploded view assembly and parts list.

SOURCE: Nordictrack motor will not run when start button is pushed.

Likely the cover of one of the motor brushes popped off. Unplug the machine before you pop it back in place, then try it again.

If that doesn't work, most likely it's the motor control board, or possibly the console, or finally just a loose connection behind the console.

But most likely, it's the motor brush cover. I've been seeing that alot with this model.

SOURCE: lubricating a treadmill

The only lube required is between the walking belt and the deck. You can get the lube from iconfitness.com. Lift the walking belt and squirt some on the deck from each side, underneath the belt in the area where you usually walk. Walk on it for a few minutes to spread the lube around.

SOURCE: Freemotion treadmill incline not going all the way

The problem is either in the lower control board or the lift motor. I would start by replacing the lift motor. Then if that does not fix it, replace the lower control board.

My treadmill t-30 keeps on posting error 7. I can't find my manual, so what does this mean? Thanks!

For the Fitnex T30 treadmill, the error 7 (listed err7 on the display) code means that there is a fault with the incline motor. My problem was the incline motor had burned out probably from usage, and during my research, this seems to be a weakness for the T30 model. You can remove the front plastic cover, unscrewing the 4 phillips head screws to reveal the electronics board, belt motor, and incline motor. With the power on (do not touch the board or wires 'cuz you could be electrocuted) check the board located next to the power switch. If the board's two lights are lit green, then your incline motor has probably ceased to live. Just in case, make sure to check with a flashlight, all those capacitors. One of them could have blown out and I'm not sure whether the green lights would indicate that. If one is blown the cylinder end will be bulged as if the cylinder 'popped'. You can see that the cylinders are stamped with a plus-sign. This is a built-in weakspot to allow an 'explosion' to puff out that plus-sign stamp. It will be fairly obvious if one has kaboomed. Make sure the wires are intact as well. Use a dustsprayer to blast all the grime and dust off the board and wires and motors. If all looks good, it's probably your incline motor itself that has gone kaput. Now let's get that motor out! Turn off the power and remove the power pIug from the outlet! First, I removed the grounding screw (green wire), unplugged the 4 prong main switch and 3 prong secondary switch from the motherboard that connect to the incline motor. [Just a footnote, inspect the connections of those wires into the incline motor just to be sure. If all is well, continue motor removal]. Next, use wrenches to remove the top nut and bolt securing the incline motor. Then, gently tip the entire treadmill on its side and do the same to remove the nut and bolt from the incline bar across the bottom of the treadmill. Now flip the treadmill rightside up. Remove the incline motor. I ordered the same motor, used and rebuilt, from sbarker (Ebay id), sbarker10 (Amazon id) for $54, shipping included. You're not going to get a better deal than that. A new replacement motor from a exercise equipment store online wanted $200 which is just not worth it. From order to arrival, took 4 days. Follow the same procedure in reverse order to install your new motor. Everything should work fine. If you're still getting the error than there must be a wiring issue between your board and the incline motor, or the board itself is faulty, but then that's beyond my knowledge of this particular problem. Don't worry though, with what I've found, the incline motors are poo-built, so if you're getting this error in the first place, I'd bet the farm it's a burnt incline motor. Good luck
