Nope - that battery is completely rechargeable. There is a small possibility that the battery could have experienced some small corrosion, but this is a slim possibility. The documentation suggests that this model has an external battery pack, and comes with the following instructions:
Slide the external battery pack cover to open it.
Insert four AA batteries, be careful to observe the correct polarity. Slide the
cover back into place.
