I have a Kenmore 587.16182401 Dishwasher. It fills with waer and drains ok, but the is no washing action or any kind. It just sits there during the wash cycle. The soap ends up in a glob in the bottom tray.

simple one this, just clear out the waste pipe and the inside food filter and the outlet pump, also check the outlet where the pipe goes (under the sink?) its a simple blockage somewhere, if i have helped rate me, and work safe remove the plug etc

it is agood manual solution but if you want to rea ly fix that there is {an electrical order reach at suitable time to open the dispenser it come from electronic circuit to elecronic lock which catch the
dispenser so one of those parts may be fualty

SOURCE: the soap isn't coming out of the soap dispenser

I had the same problem once. Make sure nothing is stacked in front of the soap dispenser when you close the door. Slowly close the door and follow the soap dispenser to make sure it has enough clearance to open.

SOURCE: during dishwasher cycle soap dispenser won't open

Remove the door inner panel and check the dispenser door solenoid for free movement along with the latch mechanism. Water can enter through a leaking seal and corrode the interior of the solenoid causing sluggish or non-functioning of the latch. Change the solenoid if it seems sticky and can't be fixed by cleaning the bore and plunger (don't apply oil as it will gum up the operation after a while).
