People have red cheeks, red under eyes also. They have green hair. There are ghost images around their faces and sometimes they have two faces, one partially overlapping the other. The picture is blurry and sometimes it shakes.

I finally received the correct STKs. My mistake, not the vendor. I had them installed by a guy at work who is an expert in this field. I re-installed the board and powered the television. I now have three distinct pictures colored red, blue and green with some white mixed in. This is a Hitachi TV with magic focus. When the magic focus button is depressed it indicates it is performing the function but when it completes the picture quality does not change. I have tried the manual method but the picture quality is no better after completion. Overall, the picture quality is poorer now than it was before the STK-392s replacement.

  • stircrazy15 Sep 18, 2008

I have tried both auto and manual convergence as already indicated. The STK-392 110 and STK-392 150 have been replaced. What other ICs need replaced?

You need to perform static and dynamic convergence adjustments in your hitachi tv by going into service mode. It is very technical adjustments and if you now how to perform, then go ahead.
Here is procedure how to go into service mode...

1. TV turned off
2. Press 'Power' and 'Input' buttons on the TV for more than 3 seconds..
Now you are in service mode.
The letter P indicates picture and A indicates audio.
4. Use the 'Menu up or down' on the remote to select the item.
5. Write down the old value of the item before changing.
6. Use the 'Menu left or right' to change the data.

Note: before adjust any data in service mode, please take note or write down its value because you might need to recall previous or old data there.

You need to go into your set up menu and select convergance. adjust it and this should help. if it doesn't hen it is a faulty convergance ic module and you will have to contact a local repair service and either replace them yourself(only if you have electronics experienc) or have them replaced for you.. please rate this.......thanks

you indicated that you have an auto focus feature. it is obvious that your focus apeture is not doing what it's suppose to even though the the tv is telling you it is. with the auto focus(magic focus) igt works in conjunction with the convergance. this is a motherboard fault and chances are you need to have someone with the experience(your buddy forinstance check the mother board out.) without being hands on it would be hard for me to pinpoint the exact nature of the problem. please changre the rating to helpful. i'm in the ball park as far as giving you options that qualify... thanks

It is a convergence problem.

You need to have convergence setup done, it is likely that one of the integrated circuits (STKs) on convergence board has blown, and need to be replaced.

lots of times in describing humans this term is used to prompt the user into better describing the exact feature's or shape of the face and body , an example would be ( lite brown hair , tall /thin build , green eyes, scar on left cheek ) etc .

I have a Sony TV model KDL-40BX412. There is a red ghost. Sometimes it is green. The longer the TV is on, the distance between the image and the ghost decreases, but never disappears.

Contact the authorized service centre for Sony. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

After replacing the bulb on my 60 by, I have red and green hosting around images.

I have the same problem. I just replaced my 9 year old lamp with a new one from a seller on Amazon (for only $88) but the ghosting and red/green misconvergence is still apparent, especially on standard definition DVDs played on a BLU-ray player through the Sanyo projector.
I found where a poster on an Australian board wrote that he was able to make adjustments using a service manual to get the red and green LCDs back in alignment. He describes it here:

Samsung HCN4226W "image pinching"

The convergence IC has gone out and is located on the Main bd or the Power supply bd depending on the specific model and must be replaced and a Full convergence alignment must be performed to return your tv to a watchable condition. Only a Samsung trained tech can do this.

you will need to replace 2 stk ic [ parts ] after that the technician will have to realign the picture, sometime also some resistors get bad along with one or 2 fuses

Ghost red image

If you are connecting via HDMI, try either getting the firmware upgrade from the Philips website or switching to Component (Red, Green and Blue) cables.

Color Issues with red ghosts on screen

The suggestions listed would be relevant for 'Ghosting' by itself, however you mentioned you tried to use the crosshairs to line up the images4.gif, which implies convergence - red/green/blue image separation and/or distortion. NONE of the solutions mentioned were anywhere close to the fix for this problem - this us usually cut and dry; convergence circuit failure. Generally, STK ICs are used. (Common parts are STK392-010/020/040, STK392-110/120/150/180, etc.) Most times replacing BOTH of these chips will be enough, sometimes there will be a blown fusible resistor and/or burnt resistors near the chips themselves. If you don't implicitly know exactly what I'm talking about, don't attempt it - take it in to a repair shop. For in-shop repair, this would NOT exceed $250 (EVER) at our location, unless there was more damage done, which is a one in a hundred situation. Good luck!

sounds like the high voltage transformer arc or one of the picture tubes arc causing the convergance ic to go bad
you can try to replace the IC heres a site to help:

but you still may have a arcing problem.

"muddy eyes"

I don't think the problem is the eyes. the problem comes because the focus of the scanner is not the same with film zone and films support, there is a one mm difference. You have to specify the good way in the driver.
