If there is power at the socket and if the plug fuse and the wire is intact then there will be power to the unit. The fault can be relative to the failure of the main program controller board / switch .
So use a multimeter to check the continuity of the plug to the main unit to confirm.
if so you might need to swap a board to confirm before ordering for one unless there is a minor fault on the board which can inpected with a simple test using the meter.
Thank you using Fixya.

Hi I have no power on a Candy Grand Tumble Dryer. I have changed the fuse in the plug and tried a different socket - still nothing - any ideas please?

i don't know and don't know your dryer. some dryers have a safety pointer on the door so it will not run. it could be the switch the pointer pushes on. if pin is not quite touching safety switch, dryer will not turn on. be careful and don't by pass this switch. if you think this could be the problem - first try pushing on door to see if dryer runs. if not, you could use a thin stick to push in hole with door open. if it turns it has become loose and needs to be reinstalled. if it does not turn the switch should be checked with an electric test meter for continuity.

Candy tumble drier, working fine then switched off no lights on , changed fuse and nothing still

So I want to understand you, you used the drier then turned it off, then you tried using it again but it wouldn't come on. if this is correct then, now you've changed the fuse still nothing. you should make sure there is electric power on the socket, also check the plug-in to see if any wire is loose. get back to me

Dryer shorts out some of the electrics when its switched on!

The breaker in your breaker box is either weak and need to be replaced or the amps is too low. But from what you stated, you have had this dryer for awhile, so I'm assuming that its just a bad breaker. If the dryer still runs and doesn't have any issues when it dosn't pop the breaker, then this is what it is. Have an electrician come out and replace the breaker if you are not familiar with doing this.

Tumble dryer when switched on cuts power to all sockets in house

Hi.
Try it with the heater disconnected, you will find it at the rear of the m/c at the bottom left behind a removable panel.
You may have to remove the top cover and the right hand side panel looking at the m/c from the front. Try it again.
I fit does not trip. then your heater is faulty.
If it still trips then you are probably going to have to call en engineer
