Tip & How-To about Apple iPod touch

Connecting an iPod Without a Car Stereo

Newer cars often come with adapters to connect an iPod to a car radio, but you can still listen to your favorite lists, if you do not have a car stereo at all. Portable electronics can be used to connect the iPod to speakers, and play it on your car.

1. Purchase an adapter FM radio transmitter for your iPod. It will stream music from your iPod to a low-frequency power, which can be captured by a radio in your car. For best results, use a transmitter with a power adapter 12 volts, you can power adapter car "cigarette lighter" power outlet instead of batteries.

2. Place a "boom box" radio in your car stereo. For purposes of the iPod, the older model, if you have done. All you need is a working radio and decent speakers. Again, it is best if you turn the car to avoid the use of batteries.

3. Set your transmitter to a radio frequency is not used in the stereo field, and tune the same frequency. Adjust the volume on the stereo halfway.

4. Place your iPod within reach of the driver or passenger. When the iPod is playing, the sound will be transmitted to the radio. You can adjust the volume on the iPod itself to control the music changing. When the iPod is off, the radios go silent, although you will hear a static noise. Turn on the radio to get rid of noise, and to save battery when not running the car's power.

how do i get the radio to work

Hello,

Besides playing your favorite songs and custom playlists, you can also listen to your favorite DJs and talk shows on your iPod Nano by using it as a radio.

The iPod Radio Remote is a small and convenient accessory that lets you tune in to live radio when you're on the go, and also allows you to remotely control your iPod. Here is how you can easily setup Radio Remote on your iPod Nano and start using it as a radio.

  1. Connect the ipod Radio Remote to your iPod Nano by plugging it into the dock connector. Plug your headphones into the port at the top of the Radio Remote, next to the hold switch.
  2. Once the Radio Remote is connected, select "Music" and then "Radio" on your iPod. The Radio Remote will automatically tune in to the first available station it finds. The iPod screen will show the radio station and any other available information or data.
  3. Press the center button on the iPod. Use your iPod click wheel to find other stations. Once you have found your favorite station, hold the "Center" button down until a triangle appears on the radio dialer on your iPod screen.
  4. Once you have set up all of your favorite radio stations, use the "Next/Fast-Forward" or "Previous/Rewind" buttons to navigate between them.
Good luck.

ipod

On the Kenwood models that are within about 6 or 7 years old or newer, there is an iPod adapter for the head units that plugs into the CD Changer port on the back of the radio. Kenwood makes an adapter (KCA-IP500) that gives direct control and charging through the radio and several companies make aux input adapters for Kenwood radios that will connect to the iPod's headphone jack.
