Husqvarna CTH180XP rideon lawn mower 42" rear discharge won't start. When turning the key it just clicks over. The mower worked fine about four months ago but hasn't been used since due to winter. I have checked fuel - good, oil - good, spark- good, pulled blade engage in and out to see if clutch was problem but does click. Could it be a battery problem? Have had the mower since new 2004 and never had this problem before. Could someone please help. Thanks in advance Sue

Hi Sue and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. You have been quite lucky to get 7 years out of your battery. Given the age of the battery that is currently installed this is most likely your problem. You have voltage but very little amperage due to thinned out battery plates.... (
Let me know how it goes.

I have a husqvarna 42'' cut lawn mower. I can't

Test the small lead on solenoid for volts when you turn the key. The small lead is what jumps the two switch leads together internally with key in start position. You should be getting 12 volts or so on this small lead, if you have nothing there, check the key switch. Sounds like the key switch isn't sending power to solenoid. Also, check all grounds. Good luck

My 42" Husqvarna (model #917.279240

Remove the center dust caps from the rear axles, start the tractor up and put it in gear and observe the axles, if one of them is spinning freely inside the wheel, you have lost the 1/4" square key that pins the wheel to the axle. Replace the key and you can go back to mowing. Hope this helped Tim
