I have an MX850 Aeros remote control. Everythhing works except my volume. I have to press it so many times and then when it finally registers it's either too lound or too low. Any help to fix would be appreciated. Thank you.

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. Surf the site with patience. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean. http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/

hi i have the same problem. yamaha rx-v870 with a remote control that works perfectly except for the volume up/down. i pressed the buttons for a minute and applied some lemon gunk remover liquid and this helped for a very short period. i am wondering if the problem is with the little motor inside the receiver that rotates the volume knob itself, as opposed to an infrared problem on the transmitter/receiver.
I had just about given up on programming my Time Warner universal remote with my Boston Soundbar until a mental lightbulb came on. This is a two step process.
Step 1: Program your Time Warner remote (I have CLIKR-5, instructions available for other models at timewarner.com)
Using Pre-Programmed 3-digit Code method
-Turn on soundbar
- Press device button (I chose AUX) and OK/Select simultaneously until device button stays lit.
- Point remote control toward the soundbar and enter code (447 for Boston Acoustics)
- Press the device button again to store the code.
The TW instructions say you should now be able to turn the device off to verify that it works, but this is not true for the soundbar. Hang in there with me.
Step 2: Program your remote from the Boston Soundbar.
- Press the power button and the volume up button simultaneously until the indicator light flashes orange.
Here's where the instructions provided with the soundbar fail to explain how to do this. Each button is individually programmed into the TW remote. What you have done so far is enable the remote to accept the programming.
- Volume Up: press the volume up button on the soundbar while it is flashing, the light should become steadily orange.
- While holding the remote steady about a foot away from the soundbar, slowly press the volume up button on the TW remote four times. The orange light should flicker each time you do, turning green when completed.
- Volume Down, Mute, Power: repeat the steps for Volume Up, except press the button on the soundbar you wish program to the TW remote while the soundbar is flashing orange. It should become steady before you press the corresponding button on the TW remote.
Good luck, I hope this helps. -Deidre.
All you need to do is make a small programming change. Go to www.totalcontrolremotes.com and click the contact us link and explain the problem. You will get immediate assistance and they program all URC remotes.
My son put a penny in the SD card slot of my Pansonic flat screen tv. I finally got the penny out but now the volume and tv controls do not work. I can change the channels through my cable box but that is it. The volume does not work on my cable remote or the flatscreen. What do you suggest I do to fix this problem?? Thanks, Josh
Usually on a universal remote (after programmed) the volume is controlled by pressing the cable button then adjusting the volume. When you turn your tv on by pressing tv power---then flipping through the channels by pressing cable--channel up or down. The remote (in my experience usually only controls the volume while in the cable mode)
