are you sure about the driver/chip? You may need to double check - was this an upgrade/ change of OS from a Vista machine? With AIO and laptop models, they are only made to work with one type of video card per the MFG. Below is the only video cards supported on this model of gateway:
ATI Radeon HD 4570 with 512 MB DDR2 Memory
ATI Radeon HD 4670 with 1 GB DDR3 Memory
Without these you will not have any success.

Go to the AMD downloads page here.

Step 1. Select Notebook Graphics.
Step 2. Select Radeon HD Series.
Step 3. Select Mobility Radeon HD 5xxx Series.
Step 4. Select you current operating system.

Then click the Display Results button.

i think you can, but this laptop has great integrated graphic card, it use Integrated Intel® HD Graphics or Discrete ATI Radeon™ HD 5650 graphics or Discrete ATI Radeon™ HD 5470 graphics

It is not possible to replace a graphics card on a laptop. The video chip is part of the motherboard and most likely the fix is a replacement motherboard.

Definetly the ati one. 120 stream processors is really good and it has
direct x10.
