My sound icon is missing from my task bar - Microsoft Windows XP Professional

    Is just the icon missing, or does sound not work at all?

Go to Run and from run, type in devmgmt.msc and click ok. Scroll down to sound and see if you have any items with a yellow exclamation beside it. If so, you will need to install the audio driver for the device. If you still do not find the solution to your answer then visit http://www.vtechsquad.com/ and get the maximum out of it...

Sound is not

1) Check the task bar sound icon mute active or not (Tick mark view on mute box)
2) Sound icon not in task bar check device settings.
3) Go control panel > System > Hardware > Device manager
4) Sound, Video, game controllers view problems.
5) Re-install Sound card driver.

Missing multimedia audio controller

what do mean of missing multimedia audio controller? the one that speaker icon on the lower right of the monitor or driver for the multimedia? Go to control panel then sounds and audio devices then on the volume check the Place volume icon on the task bar... hope this will help

"place volume icon in taskbar.

The sound icon is no longer on the task bar. I can't control the sound.

Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Classic View
Click Sounds and Audio Devices
Click Place Sound Icon on the Task Bar
(so that the check-mark is removed)
Click Apply
Click Place Sound Icon on the Task Bar
(so that the check-mark is restored)
Click OK
Done.

Is so open
SETTINGS
CONTROL PANEL
SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICE
First window opens make sure the checkbox is checked that says
"Place Volumn Icon in Taskbar"

My "Remove Hardware" icon is missing from my task bar

This is probably because your device is set up for 'Optimize for fast removal'.meaning that is not necessary to stop the device

In any case, if you would still like get the icon back to your task bar

I was given as a gift a acer aspire 3002CLi laptop and i must of muted the sound and i dont know where the volume control is please help.

hi, you want mute the sound ok, it's easy. After you enter the windows see the task bar it contains more icons and application .In the corner of the task bar you can see the clock or time display before that more icons there you see the sound icons it's like the speaker . Double click it the volume control comes select the first options volume bar and select the option mute all.if you could not get the icons from the task bar . then goto
  1. start menu
  2. control panel
  3. sound and volume controls
  4. select the sound control tab
here you can get the voume control tab . after all these process you cant get it please inform
