JVC Everio GZ-MG130 Camcorder Logo
Posted on Aug 08, 2011

I got my Everio from my girlfriend who was having problems getting anything off the camera and onto her mac. I have the same problems getting them onto my pc. I've tried importing the clips into various editing software programs and it just wont recognise them. Do I need to use a specific editor? I just can't get my head round it and I am a qualified film director!! Puzzling. Please help

The only "workaround" I have found so far was to record to the SD chip. Took the chip out of the camera and put it in the computer. Saved it to the computer. Changed the extension from .mob to .avi. Windows Movie maker then recognized it and I could edit.

I have an apple laptop, how do I transfer from my camcorder to a dvd on my apple.

You do not need drivers to get the footage from tape to a Mac. You do require a firewire cable and use iMovie or Final Cut to capture.

I need mac software for my jvc everio gz-mg360bu camera.

There is a chance that you will be able to get back some or all of your digital videos from your JVC camcorder based on your Macintosh.

First things first: DO NOT take any more videos with the memory card or stick that you want to recover videos from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of video recovery.

Quick Internet searches will reveal a tremendous number of Mac recovery programs. Here are some for your reference(there is no freeware I suppose)

Data Recovery (from Mac Update)

Caution - Do NOT try & write anything back to the memory card of stick until you can recover your videos safely!

Share: How to import .tod files from JVC Everio HDD Camcorder to iMovie?

Requirements: iMovie (Part of the iLife 08 package)

Step 1: Connect the Everio to the Mac (Via USB)
Make sure you are powering the Everio from the mains before connecting your JVC Everio Camcorder.

Step 2: Playback on PC
Select “Playback on PC” on the Everio, once connected you will see the Everio HDD symbol appear on the desktop. The video files on the Everio are stored in the SD Folder/PRG***/MOV***.MOD.

Step 3: Open iMovie
Once you open iMovie, you will see that it recognizes the Everio straight away and will attempt to import your video.

You are now ready to use iMovie to edit your video files.

If need change .tod files to common video formats like mov, mp4, m4v, mpg, mpeg, dv, flv, avi, wmv, 3gp, mkv, mp3, aac, wma, m4a, etc. Mod Tod Video Converter for Mac is a good choice. The program can also convert mod tod to ipod, mod tod to iphone, tod to apple tv, tod to blackberry and more devices!
