Perhaps the compressor burned out. Perform a funeral and buy a new one.

Model hd456e- when the desired humidity is reached will the dehumidifier stop running?

It should. If not it is defective or undersized for the application.

Start it out at high (moist) setting - it should go off soon. You can then move it slowly to drier settings and see that it runs longer before stopping. Stop when you get to a comfortable setting.

Refrigerator won't cool below 18c.

Makes no sense to me as this refrigerator only has one compressor/evaporator. The freezer should also cool the refrigerator section. Try defrosting the freezer - perhaps ice has somehow blocked any airflow to the refrigerator section.

Fridgidaire Dehumidifier making high pitched noise. What is that?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are hearing a high pitched noise coming from your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# FDF50S, and want to know what it is. There are several possibilities that could be causing this high pitched sound. I suggest contacting either the manufacturer or your local authorized technician for further assistance. The technician will be able to diagnose your dehumidifier and determine exactly what the cause is. Hope this is helpful.

I purchased A Haier Dehumidifier 2 yrs ago on Aug 20/09( registered online) and it's been great...until today. i walked into the house, and the machine was making a VERY strange,high-pitched noise,...

Dont turn it back on your terminals on the compressor have vented causing all the freon and oil to leak out this is a fire hazzard. This dehumidifier is ready for the trash buy a new one soleus air is a lot better quality. Keep in mind all dehumidifiers are made very cheap so they are affordable and dont have a long life span. Let me know if this helps.

No water collecting allso burning smell also it do not sound lik compreser is kiking on

If you haven't already, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit. Obviously, if you're getting a burning odor from the dehumidifier, something is terribly wrong. Since there are no belts on the motor or fan of the unit, the compressor may have burned up. In which case, the cost of repairs would almost or be equal to, the cost of a new unit.

I'm sorry, I wish I had better news for you.

My dehumidifier is no longer making any noise and is not extracting water. The lights still come on, and when I first plug it in it starts to work for about twenty seconds and then quits. Is this fixable?

Fedders dehumidifier making high pitched noise

Hi,
The fam motor bearings are dry and need oil..wd-40 with the long spray nozzle maybe the best way to get oil on the bearings... some motors are sealed and it is very dificult the get them quiet again...spray right where the shaft comes out of the motor and then lean the unit back so the oil runs into the motor and let it set for awhile..then try it...

Yes, the fan motor should come on when you start the unit.
I just came from my basement where i had the same problem.  My fan was not working- it was noisy at first, then it stopped working.  it seems the motor has some play in it and came out of the electromagnetic housing that should make it spin.  once it was slightly out , it no longer spinned.   I took it apart, and then reassembled it nice and tight.  there is still some play, but it is working great.  If it happens again i may try to get a replacement motor.
