Microwave Sharp carousel Model R3A36 keypad not working. We had a brown out due to a recent storm and the microwave keypad didn't work anymore after that. We unplugged and replugged and the light inside is on and the numbers 8888 come up on the digital screen, but the keypad is completely dead. Can you advise?

Sharp Carousel Model R-209KK-W is flashing all 8's and keypad not working

The first thing to try is to do a hard reset.

Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

If it still doesn't work, it may need repair, which can be done for $39.95 in most cases.

No! I'am afraid not, the problem is in the keypad control board, the whole assembly must be replaced, the part alone will cost around $100.00 or more depending on make and model.

On some models, the keypad would have to be replaced. On others, the connectors can be cleaned to fix this.

i just checked my R-3A36 manual to find out the wattage. it's 800 watts. i make pralines in my microwave. i am always asked for the recipe. so i needed to be able to tell people the wattage of my oven so they can adjust the recipe to their oven.

Your keypad has failed.

It would need a new control panel frame, which comes with the keypad.

You simply remove the circuit board and plug it into the new frame.

It is part # FPNLCB070WRK0 and the best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.
