A cassette has jammed close the A door of my Sony TC WE675. How do I clear the jam? The tape is probably keeping the door closed.

Hi,
If tape mechanism got problem in loading and audio head remains in up position for some reason, tape door wont get open.
Take off top cover of cassette deck and rotate capstan wheel manually to release tape mechanism so to eject the stuck tape inside.
Possible causes of tape jam are broken rubber belt, broken cam gear in mechanism and that needs visual check to confirm. I do have service manual copy of this deck so let me know to send it to you if that helps.
Thanks.

I have a duel cassette player sony model # TC-WR 565. The doors will not open and both casettes cannot be removed even after prying the door open.

Mine did that - you will have to patiently keep pressing the clear / stop / pause / etc and even power cycle a few (or many) times and finally you will hear the mechanism release the cassette. Once you hear that - you will be able to eject the cassette. After that go replace the belts.

THERE IS NO PAPER JAMMING BUT KEEPS ON DISPLAYING PAPERJAM

open the cassettes. open and close the copier doors. does the jam clear? if so make sure the paper in the cassettes matches what the displays says. tray 1 8 1/2x11 needs to be the same as what is in the cassette. if this is not he problem then you have a part filure, tire, belt, clutch. you may need a tech.

Tape will not turn

The more detailed the description of the problem, the better for diagnosing the root cause. Thanks.

It sounds like you have a couple of problems. I'll address them as you have them numbered above.

1. Decks typically have belts to drive the various 'reel' mechanisms. Therefore, they can slip without breaking anything inside the machine or the tape. Your first symptom leads me in that direction.

2. That it migrated is mysterious, unless Sony is using a common motor to handle both decks' reel duties.

3. This symptom may have something to do with the root cause of both sides jamming...

Do the cassette well doors come off, say, for cleaning? Could they be dislodge? If so, they may have something to do with the jamming problems in # 1 and #2 as the doors play a part in positioning the cassette and holding it in place against the reel motor cogs. How do the doors operate with NO tape inserted?

Does it take excessive force to close the door only WITH a tape? make sure the tape is fully seated before closing the door. The capstans (directly below each reel cog) have to engage through the small holes at the lower edge of the cassette. They should be straight and clean. Any dirt or oxide on them will cause problems as these are what move the tape at the precise speed necessary for good playback or recording.
---

My hipshot recommendation, otherwise, is to look around inside the cassette wells very carefully for any foreign matter, debris, dust bunnies.

Do you maintain the deck as recommended?

Sony Dual-Deck Cassette Player/Recorder, doors won't close

Are both sides not staying shut? If it's only one side, look to see if the latch is broken. You should see an arm move when you press down the eject button - while the door is open, press the eject button and see where the arm moves. You should see a hook that catches the door and keeps it closed. It could be broken, or just jammed. Look at the other side of the deck and see it it looks like it's working the same. Unjam the latch arm if it's stuck, or replace it if it's broken.
