Hi! It's most likely a broken LCD flex cable which goes through the hinge. It's a common problem with these cameras. I repair them every day as I work in a Sony service center. If you're out of warranty, talk to Sony, maybe they are ready to pay half of the repair or something like that as I believe it's a factory fault.
After researching various flexible cable numbers from different posts, I found that the SR-200 uses a unique cable, FP-610, part number 187145711. This has been discontinued and replace with part number 187145721 (same cable also used in DCR-SR300).
If you are in doubt with your camera, just take it apart up to the point of seeing the ribbon cable. The part number is printed on the side.
