I'm trying to hook up an Altec Lansing computer speaker system. I can't get the speakers to work. I'm use to speakers having a plug that fits the little green speaker outlet, this seems to have RCA plugs, a red a white one. I try plugging them into the REC hook ups on my computer but there's no white RCA outled just a red & yellow. Does anyone possibly know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!!!

This speaker is using a USB to draw its power. You can try using other USB ports on the computer or use USB chargers (Apple, HTC, Android phones, etc) to test it, if all else fail then you may need to return it because its defective.

That is the setup guide for the speakers.

The two wires plug into a cable that then that single cable plugs into the computer, this way you have sound coming out of the left and right hand speakers.

Hooking 5.1 computer speakers to a Samsung Plasma

Computer speakers are powered, they have their own amps inside the speaker cabinet.

To get these to work on a TV you need to plug them into a headphone out jack.

The external speaker terminals produce too hot a signal for powered computer speakers. The amp in the speakers may have already been damaged.
