More than likely a defective magnetron; less likely loose h.v. connections.

Food not cooking in center

What make and model?? Sounds like it is not a carousel model. Have you tried a "Micro Go Round" ?? Otherwise, try rotating the 'plate' each quarter cycle...ie; every 30 seconds on a 2 minute cook time. Be sure to push the stop button first before you open the door to save wear and tear on the door switches......

I have a Kitchenaid YKHMS147HW microwave that started turning on by itself, and will not shut off unless I unplug the unit. If I put food in to cook, the food starts cooking as soon as I plug the unit in,...

Sounds like stuck relay contacts. Magnetrons need a high voltage source which is controlled by a micro to relay and then from relay to voltage source. Even the turntable works via a relay.

New microwave stopped working after 15 seconds

Possibly the fuse / breaker is tripped, usually all outlets in one room share same breaker. Check breakers (or fuses) or try outlet in differnt room. If the outlet has power, (plugin a lamp to check) and the microwave still does not work, take it back to store for replacement or refund.

FMV156DCA turns on, cook indicator lights but not cooking, timer counts down fine too

Hello epinvegas - Try reprogramming the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and restart unit. If it proves to be ineffective, then it sounds like the microwave has a faulty magnetron, wiring failure or control board. Contact a professional to assist with the repairs.

Sharp 1200w microwave seems to be tripping lightly (can hear clicking noises)and cause heating to be irregular

Clean the food off the inside top of the microwave Now,Or that noise you are hear will stop along with the microwave. The food gets on the Formica Squire which is how the micro waves heat your food. 1st unplug the Microwave then spray the inside of the unit with something like Fantastic or something strong and use glove so you don't burn you hand,Also if you have a scrub brush use it,And clean all the soap out and raise very well.

My frigadare microwave runs normal but wont heat the food

From the description you have provided, the magnetron has shorted. This a job for a professional because there is lethal voltages present that will kill.

GE Spacemaker XL 1800 Microwave. After removing heated food, I closed the door and the microwave sounded like it was powering up again. However, no internal light came on as it does when the unit is...

Be sure to keep this oven unplugged or the door open until it is fixed. If it runs by itself, this is a fire hazard.

First listen carefully for a buzzing sound behind the control panel when the door is shut.

If it's present, chances are you have a failing capacitor on the control panel assembly, which can be repaired for $39.95 in most cases. Details are here.

If that or a louder buzzing is only present when you have the door closed, then the oven is cooking when it's not supposed to, but the cooling fan is not on, and it is overheating and tripping the breaker.

That would be due to a shorted cook relay on the control board. That can also be repaired with our $39.95 service.

The odd characters on the display concern me separately. This could mean you have a noisy or otherwise failing magnetron.

If the display is fine when you're cooking properly with it, then the magnetron is probably okay.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

I have a KHMC106W Micro-Convect Hood - all of sudden when we used the microwave it didn't sound right and the food never heated up. I unplugged and waited about 2 min and replugged back in and it still...

the Magnetron has gone (yes it's really called that) that's the part of the microwave that emits radio waves and cooks your food... 30 years ago when this tech (Microwave cooking) was new and expensive it was cheaper to replace that part than buy new... now it's the other way around... at least you still have a working electric convection oven.
it's very rare that a Magnetron go bad, so look for an old one of the same model and use that one for parts if it's that loved.

Everything works except the cooking part/no heating/turntable not turning, help!

you may have gotten a power surge and that can cause some funny things to happen, 1st is there power to the oven, 2nd if so there may be an internal fuse protector built in to the oven, check with the manual for anything of that sort listed. if not you may have to take it in and have it repaired by a pro. there is a lot of voltage in these ovens and unless you know what you are doing a person could get hurt
