Troubleshooting GPX 8 GB MP3 Player

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

HOW TO ERASE SONGS ON MY MP3 PLAYER

You should be able to access the mp3 player as a removable drive when connected to your PC. You can then go into it using the standard file navigation system and delete the audio files that way.

The GPX drive is not showing

initailly there was a dev. sys config file or something of that nature on the GPX website like a year ago that would allow you to replace and/or access your music and/or the GPX mp3 player, however 2-3 years later they have fixed bugs and put out many other mp3 players so your luck of finding this file is dwindling. try it w/ and w/out batteries and try to go to win explorer as oppsed to "my computer"

Delete songs

You should be able to hook your mp3 player up to your computer with the USB cable. This will allow you to browser the directory where the songs are and delete or add new songs. Your mp3 player will appear in your computer as a removable disk. The songs that you put on your mp3 player need to be in mp3 or wma format. I also found the instruction manual for your product in pdf format. http://www.gpx.com/shop_ind.php?id=%20%20344#

MacBook Intel and GPX MP3 Player

The GPX MP3 Player will not recognize .m4a files. You must convert the files to MP3 files first. To do so, in iTunes, click "Edit, Preferences". Change the tab to "Advanced". Inside, there should be a second tab control. Change that to "Importing". Change the "Import Encoder" to "MP3 Encoder". Close those windows. Select the song you want to convert to an MP3, right click, and choose "Convert selection to MP3". Then, locate the file that was created, and put it on your GPX. If you want to convert your entire library, just select all files using Control+A.

My MP3 Player stops midway while downloading files

There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites.

WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.

Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to Windows-based computers.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself:
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
