A serial port is a 9 pin (DB-9) connector for serial communication (RS232) used by modems, mouse, etc... In older machines you had a DB-25 (25 pin connector) as well usually situated in the back of the computer near the printer port (DB-25 connector) but femail (25 holes insdead of 25 pins)

Hope this helps!

Serial port is used to connect with devices with serial connector e.g mouse. On ASUS P4P800-VM serial port is located under printer port beside of VGA port..For newer motherboard serial port no longer available because replaced with better connector, USB port.

I would re-seat the CPU, and most likely the MB is not dead. You would not get any beeps if so.

Hi, I need standard spec info of VGA built on Asus P5GC-MX 1333 whether 64 Mb or 128 Mb. Many thanks & regards, Richard

you can use up to a maximum of 224 mb of your computer's RAM for the onboard video chip to use. You can install a video card with any amount of memory (which would give you a lot better video performance).

You also have a manual for the Biostar? Find the serial No# printed on the Mb. Usaully found on a white sticker found on the serial port. With the serial No# in hand look up your board on Biostar's web site. Download the manual. You will find what CPU's your MB can take.
