SOURCE: Ignition coil for David Brown 12 volt

Bring your coil into your local auto parts store and they should be able to match it up. There is a question of "with and without a resistor", "With" is usually the right answer. Don't worry even if this is wrong it will not harm anything. So yes, coils are generic.

Replaced injector pump 990 David brown original had ceased now tractor starts runs for 20-30 seconds then dies. Restarts fine but only runs for 20-30 secs. First start in morning ran for 2-3 minutes
it indicates that there is a fuel shortage problem
check the supply pump for fuel supply to the pump elements
if the fuel supply pump is part of the injector pump , there could be a blockage in the fuel line or air still in the system
of there is a good supply of fuel to the pump then contact the shop that reconditioned the pump
if you just fitted another pump without reconditioning it , then talk to an accredited diesel pump specialist shop

Can you tell me which injection pump you have on your 580K. It could use a robert bosch or a C.A.V. Let me know I will help you. One thing you need to know, with a cav pump the engine will not have much torque rise in power. The engine is a powerhouse that runs hydraulic pumps at full throttle. This is a full throttle tractor that should run that way all time .If you are trying to back up hill at say half throttle ,it will not do it, try First gear full throttle. Remember the tractor with bucket and backhoe weight is about 16000# . I do not think adjusting the fuel delivery will help this tractor.

Diesel injector pump CAV 55/850/9/2160 or maybe LP 55/850/9/2160. From a 3165 MF tractor. Is it compatible with 3240F938 or Lucas 40B 883517M91
it is possible that it will fit but the major problem is not if it fits-- but is it calibrated ( fuel settings)correctly for the engine
this should only be discussed with a specialist diesel pump repair shop
if it fits but is not calibrated properly , they can reset it for the engine
with diesel engines , if the calibration is out , sever engine damage will result

Your Cav has Fuel Injection, therefore the electric fuel pump is inside the tank. uel injection units require much more pressure than a manual pump can deliver.

David Brown 990 selectamatic how do I know what engine it is fitted with in order to determine which crankshaft to order
Talk to david brown parts department and quote the tractor serial number and the engine serial number and they should be able to tell you the part number for the crank that will fit that engine. . They should also be able to tell you the year and model of the engine so with the part number and the other details you should be able to source from a tractor wrecker the shaft you need.

i had a similar problem that ended up being the fuel pump relay located in the engine compartment on the drivers side next to the air box. there will be at least 2 relays, the fuel pump one is black and brown. check that first.
