How can i convert tapes to dvd

You can connect the Camcorder to the Computer using A/V interface to transfer the recordings to Computer.
Once you transfer the recordings from tape to computer, you can use any burning software to burn the recordings to DVDs.
In order to capture the analog videos, you can use the Windows Movie Maker available in the Computer.

I have a GE CG818A Camcorder, when I play it it only plays black and white. Was wondering if there is a used Sony or any camcorder that would play my Video8 P6-120MP tape, in color.

I have the exact same camera and same exact same problem. Any analog Video8 or Hi-8 camcorder or VCR will play these tapes.

By using the same cassettes as Hi8, many (NOT ALL) Digital8 (produced by Sony exclusively) camcorders are able to play analog Video8/Hi8 recordings, preserving compatibility with already recorded analog tapes.

you can connect Digital8 camcorders to your computer to download your movies for editing or Internet use.

As of 2008, Digital8 camcorders have been removed from the equipment offered by Sony.

I have a really old Canovision8, E40, 8mm camcorder that doesn't work anymore. What's the best solution to convert the tapes to DVD or to the computer?

Hi,
You need Hi-8 camcorder/ Hi-8 player to playback your old Video-8 tapes, hook that camcorder/ player with DVD Recorder, play video-8 tapes and burn DVDs directly.

How can I convert my 8mm tapes to a digital format and save to my hard drive?

If you have DVD Recorder then hook your Video-8 camera in analog AV input and burn a DVD, this will convert analog video/ audio signal of camcorder in digital format and transfer the data on DVD as well. Put that dvd in computer and save it in computer.

Transfering 8mm video tapes to dvds

Hi there. You need to transfer your videos to your computer and then burn them to DVD using a program like Record Now, or Nero. You should be able to get this from Best Buy, or you can get it online from their websites. If you have any other questions, let me know with a comment. Thanks for coming to FixYa.

Sony handycam and pc transfer

Hello,
Sony CCD-TRV218E is analog PAL camcorder and can not be hooked with PC directly.
Computer (PC) requires digital format files to store on HDD and your camcorder has no digital file format to directly transfer in to computer.

You can hook your camcorder with DVD recorder to burn a DVD. Now you have digital files on DVD and can be transferred in PC.

Not reading Hi8 tapes

Fidus, I am not sure where you are located but the camcorder you're trying to use now is a PAL version of Sony's 8mm camcorder. If the tapes you recorded earlier were recorded in D8 (digital 8) or 8mm/Hi8 format NTSC, they will not play correctly in this unit. The NTSC and PAL formats are different and not compatible. Hope this helps you. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
