SOURCE: High speed spa pump shuts off

The motor may have a thermal cutoff if the motor draws too much current. Do you have a sufficient large gauge circuit supplying the motore? If not the actual voltage at the motor may drop, causing it to draw more current to make up for the loss of voltage, thereby tripping the motor's protective breaker. I assume the motor will start again after serveral minutes of cooling down.

Pump runs on low speed but starts and immediatly shuts off when the high speed kicks in

That is an indication that the high speed of your pump has gone out. You can take it to a local motor shop and see if they can rebuild it for you.

I can't get the high speed motor on. It operates in low speed. Is there a wire diagram?

All pool and spa motors are required to have the wiring diagram on the side of the motor.

I just purchaced a 4hp franklin spa pump. It is for a nuwave 2000 spa. The plug from the control panel has 4 wires, black, red, white and green ground. Where do the red, black and white wires attach on...

WHITE wire is your neutral so will go as blue wire.
BLACK and RED wires are your high and low speed for your pump.
I would plug red and black into either, plug in and turn spa on - if high speed comes on first then turn spa off and swap red and black wires round. the side of your pump or under top of control unit will give you a diagram of where high and low speed goes.

When I turn on the jets at the first setting it brrrr's but does not start. The second setting works fine and when the second cycle is finished the first continues fine. It is just when it first started...

Sounds like you may have a bad start capacitor that is not kicking the motor when it's set to run the low speed. If it just humms, it's usually a capacitor. It can also be the bearings but if it runs quietly normally, then it's probably a start capacitor. Hope this helps.
