Good morning,
Depending on what version of Windows 7 you are running, you will have to choose a different driver.
Please go to the below linked website and select your correct operating system or version of Windows 7 from the drop down menu.
Once you have selected it, it will bring you to a new page where you are able to click on a link that says "Digital Voice Editor: 1 File".
Select that link and then you are able to download the correct driver.

According to Sony, you should be able to connect it to your Windows 7 PC provided that it isn't 64 bit.

All you would need to do is make sure you are using the Sony Digital Voice Editor Version 3.3.01 because it appears to be the latest software to support this particular device on Windows 7.

It does turn off necessarily unless you take the batteries out. You'll need to set the date again but it will retain the recordings it had.
