Tip & How-To about Nintendo Wii Console
Hello,
In this tips and tricks guide I will go over the steps you will need to take if you wish to connect your Nintendo Wii to the internet. If you want to connect wireless you will need to be within range of a wireless access point. If you wish to connect via a wired connection(Ethernet to modem or Ethernet to router) you will need a Wii LAN adapter which is sold separately.
-Power on the console and press the A button to reach the Wii menu. At the menu, use your remote to select the Wii button at the bottom left.
-Now select "Wii settings"
-Now, hit the arrow on the right side of the screen to go to the next page and select "Internet"
-Select "Connection 1: none"
-Select "Wireless Connection" then select "Search for An Access Point"
-Select "OK" then the Wii will display all the wireless access points(wireless routers) that are in range.
-Select the wireless access point you wish to use.
-If the access point requires a security key, you will need to enter this key in. This key is set when you first configure your wireless router.
-Select "OK", then "Save Settings", and then "Yes".
At this point your Wii will now test the internet connection.
If you are using a Wired connection then you can connect the Wii directly to the router or modem and not use WiFi. Wii LAN Adapters are sold separately. If you have the LAN Adapter, follow the steps above up to the point were you select a connection type. You will select "Wired" instead of "Wireless. The Wii will now test your internet connection.
I hope this guide has helped you connect your Wii to the internet. Enjoy!
