Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Installing separate letters for worn out print on separate keys

Do you have a computer keyboard that has keys where the print is no longer on the top of the keys because it is worn out?
I did and I need to see the keys I type on so worn out lettering is unacceptable.
I tried all sorts of things including purchasing stick on letters. All worked for a short time and then I was back to the same problem.
Here is how to best solve this problem.
Buy a P-Touch label maker. Set the size of the print to whatever you want to be close to the size of other letters showing on the keyboard.
Have the label maker print out the separate letters you need. Then cover the letters with scotch tape to have another barrier on top of the letter you just printed. Cut the tape with a scissors into a square to properly sit on the proper key. Peel off the sticky back of that label and mount it. It will last a good long time and you can make as many new ones as you may need.

I can print F only by pressing hard F Key on keyboard

This has nothing to do with any software, This is because the contact of the "F" key is getting worn out.Only option is to either replace the keyboard of the lap top or use an external key board (USB) which is cheaper. you ca confirm the above by connecting a USB external key board.

Hope this helps you.

keys died and pc shut downs

It's definitely not normal. Did you spill something onto the keyboard,
and did it leak through the keyboard into the "guts" of the computer?

Take the computer to a qualified technician, top test that the motherboard of the computer is still 100% working. If it is,
then pay the technician to replace the keyboard,

Is it still under warranty, maybe an "all-perils" warranty?
