Why does the central heating lose pressure all the time?

hi Marcella.
The cause of the boiler losing pressure can be due to wear and tear or an underlying fault on either the boiler or the central heatingsystem. In most cases, we find that the central heating has been checked for air in the radiators or work for example a radiator has been taken of the wall.

Ravenheat 80/20 boiler. the boiler looses water pressure but only when working in central heating mode. Boiler holds pressure indefinitely if central heating is not used, hot water can be drawn without a problem. A new relief valve has been fitted.Any help would be welcome. Thankyou.

Hi, your boilers pressure should be holding 1.5 bar with the relief set about 3. If the pressure is below this the flow switch will cause the boiler to stop as theirs not enough pressure to operate. Another thing, does your boiler have an auto fill system or do you need to plug a hose in to fill it? If its an auto fill system and you lose pressure you could have a leak.
