i bought a printer from a friend who had no disc now i cant get the proper drivers to use it

You can download the printers drivers from manufacturer's website for free, or purchase a replacement software CD from manufacturer.

Not really a problem. If you had the disk, it was probably out of date anyway. You can download your drivers from here:
